The Opportunity
We are looking for a Director of Human Resources to lead and support all HR operations and compliance across our 20+ franchises, including the Toronto Head office. Reporting directly to our CEO, this role ensures we have strong policies, risk management strategies, and HR support in place to drive business success. Location: East Toronto (This is a full-time in-office position)

What You'll Do
  • HR Operations & Compliance - Oversee HRIS (BambooHR), and manage employee contracts, benefits administration, and compliance across multiple franchises.
  • Policies Enforcement - Develop and enforce policies that align with our company culture while ensuring legal compliance.
  • Organizational Design - Work with leadership to structure teams effectively, ensuring accountability and the right people in the right roles.
  • Performance Management - Implement performance review processes for BUOY6 employees and franchise leadership.
  • Risk Management & HR Audits - Proactively assess risks, conduct HR audits, and develop action plans to mitigate compliance issues.
  • Employee Relations - Be the key advisor on employee issues, performance improvement plans, and disciplinary actions, supporting both corporate and multiple franchise teams.

What We're Looking For
  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • 8+ years of progressive HR experience, with 5+ years in a leadership role.
  • Strong understanding of employment laws in Canada (Ontario) and the U.S. (Multi-state, specifically California, New Jersey, and Illinois).
  • Experience managing HRIS platforms (BambooHR preferred) and making data-driven decisions.
  • Proven ability to handle employee relations, compliance, and risk management.
  • Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience supporting multi-location operations, ideally in a franchise environment.
