Job Summary:
The Human Resources Director will provide leadership in the areas of recruitment, selection, orientation, compensation and benefits administration, employee relations, learning and development, performance management, rewards and recognition, occupational safety/health, employment recordkeeping, and employee communications. The Director of Human Resources (DHR) is responsible for leading and managing the human resources functions of North Shore Medical Center to support the organization's mission, values, and business objectives in today's dynamic healthcare landscape. The DHR oversees the development and implementation of policies, programs, and strategies to address key HR needs, including employee relations, recruitment, retention, compensation, compliance, and training. The DHR ensures adherence to employment laws and regulations, develops initiatives to foster a positive and inclusive workplace culture, and supports department heads and employees with HR-related needs. This position requires strong collaboration with leadership, managers, and staff to address organizational challenges and ensure alignment with NSMC strategic priorities.
The DHR also provides guidance on labor contract management, monitors compliance with applicable labor agreements, and ensures policies reflect the latest employment standards and best practices. This role is critical in driving organizational effectiveness and ensuring NSMC attracts, develops, and retains top talent to deliver high-quality care to the community.
Responsibilities:
Must be familiar with hospital organizations; functions of various departments, current personnel practices and techniques; coordination of benefits; training methods; employee health requirements and job analysis.
Should be familiar with local labor market and sources of workers, as well as job analysis.
Should be familiar with local labor market and sources of workers, as well as skills, knowledge and abilities involved in each Hospital position
Should have working knowledge of pertinent labor legislation, regulatory agencies standards (i.e. EEOC, JC, ADA, OSHA, etc.)
Leads the recruitment and selection process and ensures that open positions are filled in an effective and efficient manner.
Provides ideas and direction to maintain an effective new employee company orientation for new associates.
Provides ideas and direction necessary to perform an annual compensation market analysis, and ensures that internal and external equity goals are achieved.
Provides ideas, direction and oversight of all benefits programs and with benefits administration.
Provides ideas and direction for employee recognition programs, and other company sponsored employee programs and events.
Leads the creation of job descriptions and job qualifications.
Identifies and resolves employee performance issues.
Identifies and administers the rewards and recognition plans and strategies.
Manages, administers, and coordinates the leave of absences (LOA) for applicable client group.
Ensures that Personnel Files are accurately and effectively maintained.
Leads the identification of new policies and procedures.
Leads and manages assigned human resource projects.
Identifies ideas to achieve individual and department goals, and takes action to implement ideas.
Functions in the capacity of trusted advisor and internal consultant to designated clients, and provides the highest quality internal customer service.

Required Education
- Bachelor's degree in human resources or related field required; master's degree preferred.
- Minimum of five years human resources experience required; preferably hospital related.
- PHR Certification, preferred.
