Duties and Responsibilities
- Collaborates with people leaders to understand the organization's goals and strategy related to staffing, recruiting, and retention.
- Plans, leads, develops, coordinates, and implements policies, processes, training, initiatives, and surveys to support the organization's human resource compliance and strategy needs.
- Oversees the implementation and administration of human resource programs including, but not limited to, compensation, benefits, and leave; disciplinary matters; disputes and investigations; performance and talent management; productivity, recognition, and morale; employee engagement; and training and development.
- Identifies staffing and recruiting needs; develops and executes best practices for hiring and talent management.
- Conducts research and analysis of organizational trends including review of reports and metrics from the organization's human resource information system (HRIS) or talent management system.
- Monitors and ensures the organization's compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, and recommended best practices; reviews and modifies policies and practices to maintain compliance.
- Maintains knowledge of trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and new technologies in human resources, talent management, and employment law; applies this knowledge to communicate changes in policy, practice, and resources to upper management.
- Develops and implements departmental budget.
- Facilitates professional development, training, and certification activities for HR staff.
- Designated as the HIPAA Privacy/Security Officer.
- Oversees the development and maintenance of all internal and external HR reporting such as the HR section of the SOC 1 audit, EEOC reporting, etc.
- Adheres to all ACES corporate policies and comply with all ACES regulatory requirements, including but not limited to NERC, FERC, and relevant state regulations, as applicable to this position.
- Any additional responsibilities assigned by management.
Supervisor Responsibilities
- Provides leadership, direction, motivation, and supervision of direct reports.
- Coaches staff in the growth and improvement of skills through timely, specific, and constructive feedback.
- Oversees the training and development of HR employees.
- Oversees the daily workflow of the department.
- Screens, interviews, and hires employees.
- Handles discipline and termination of employees in accordance with company policy.
Required Qualifications
- Requires a Bachelors degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field; Masters degree preferred.
- A minimum of 10 years of HR experience required with 5 years management experience.
- Experience in the development and administration of HR related company policies, employee recruiting programs, compensation and benefit programs and deferred compensation plans.
- Human Resources certification preferred (i.e. CCP, CBP, SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP).
- Possess excellent interpersonal, influencing, and collaboration skills. Able to present results to all levels of management and work with a variety of disciplines and levels inside and outside the company.
- Proven educational or administrative experience in solving complex problems for individuals. Experience with analyzing and identifying the strengths and weaknesses of options and exercising critical thinking, problem solving and judgement skills. Ability to analyze risks and identify ways to mitigate those risks. Proactively and proficiently able to diagnose problems and identify solutions.
- Efficiently utilize a personal computer and related software including Microsoft Office and departmental-specific software. Experience with HRIS/Payroll software required.
- Maintain the highest degree of confidentiality and demonstrate unquestionable ethics and trust.
- Demonstrated leadership and supervisory experience as well as ability to work as an individual contributor. Lead and manage several projects simultaneously from inception to completion through a disciplined project management approach.
- Flexible/adaptable and willingness to accept accountability.
- Develop and maintain positive professional relationships and a strong network between staff, vendors and/or Members/Customers.
- Effective written and oral communication skills. Ability to respond effectively to the most sensitive inquiries or complaints in writing. Ability to organize and write reports and presentations in original or innovative techniques on controversial or complex topics to top management.
- Travel on an occasional basis to include overnight travel.
