Position Overview:

The Director of Human Resources (HR) is a key member of the People & Organization leadership team, responsible for providing strategic HR leadership across corporate operations and the Central Division. This individual will directly manage the team of HR Business Partners (People Operations Partners), ensuring alignment with organizational goals and consistent support across the company. The Director will partner closely with senior leaders and the Chief People Officer to drive initiatives that support talent development, workforce planning, and team member engagement in a fast-paced, mission-driven environment. This position requires hybrid work and candidates must live in the greater Denver metro area.

Key Responsibilities:

Strategic Leadership & Team Management:
  • Lead, coach, and develop the team of HR Business Partners to ensure high performance, consistent execution, and professional growth.
  • Provide strategic HR guidance and support to the Central Division and Corporate teams, aligning HR initiatives with business objectives.
  • Serve as a trusted advisor and thought partner to senior leaders and functional heads, driving people strategies that support organizational success.
  • Collaborate with the Chief People Officer to develop and implement scalable HR strategies and policies that foster a strong, inclusive culture.
  • Support organizational design, workforce planning, and change management initiatives as the company grows and evolves.

Talent Strategy & Organizational Development:
  • Drive comprehensive talent management efforts, including succession planning, leadership development, and performance management frameworks.
  • Champion team member development by identifying training needs, curating learning programs, and building internal career paths.

Team Member Experience, Engagement & Culture:
  • Promote a culture of feedback, accountability, and continuous improvement across all levels of the organization.
  • Lead efforts to enhance team member engagement and retention, including surveys, focus groups, and action planning.
  • Support the resolution of complex team member relations matters and ensure HR policies are applied consistently and fairly.
  • Actively foster an inclusive environment that reflects WVP's values and mission in every aspect of the team member lifecycle.

Compliance & Operational Excellence:
  • Ensure compliance with all local, state, and federal employment regulations, partnering with legal and compliance teams as needed.
  • Lead or support internal HR audits and reporting for leadership, regulatory agencies, or other stakeholders.
  • Develop and monitor HR metrics and dashboards to provide insight into workforce trends, risks, and opportunities.

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in human resources, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • 8-10+ years of progressive HR experience, including at least 5 years in a senior HR leadership role.
  • Proven experience managing and developing HR teams across multiple locations or business units.
  • Extensive experience in employee relations, including handling conflict resolution and performance management.
  • Proven ability to provide guidance and support to both team members and management on HR-related matters.
  • Deep knowledge of employment laws, HR best practices, and strategic HR planning.
  • Proven ability to influence and collaborate with senior leaders and cross-functional stakeholders.
  • Strong executive presence, business acumen, and critical thinking skills.
  • Exceptional interpersonal, leadership, and problem-solving skills.
  • Professional certifications such as SHRM-SCP or SPHR strongly preferred.
  • Must be able to work in person in a hybrid role, 2 days a week at the corporate Denver office.


Preferred Skills:
  • Experience in the veterinary, healthcare, or multi-site service industry is highly desirable.
  • Proficiency with HR systems and analytics tools (e.g., HRIS, performance management platforms).
  • Ability to thrive in a dynamic, fast-growing environment while juggling both strategic and hands-on responsibilities.
  • Genuine passion for animal care and a commitment to supporting veterinary professionals.

Posting reflects the minimum and maximum target salaries for the position across all US locations. The salary range for this opportunity is $145,000 - $165,000 annually. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. The Company offers competitive compensation along with a comprehensive benefits package, including medical, dental, and vision benefits, vacation, sick leave, 401(k), and more depending on location. You will be provided more detailed information about compensation and benefits for your specific location. Where required under applicable law, WVP provides eligible team members with paid sick leave, health emergency leave, and similar benefits programs, all in accordance with the requirements of state and local law depending on the location you support.
