Director of Humanities PreK-12

Job Goal: The Director will build leadership capacity with the purpose of improving student achievement, instructional quality and overall school climate at the elementary level. The Director will focus on Tier I and Tier II teaching strategies to increase student achievement, enhance best practices and build staff capacity. The Director will provide support at the site level and provide training in the integration of regular education and special education curriculum and instructional strategies.

Certification and Qualifications:
  • State of Connecticut Educator certificate in Intermediate Administration (092)
  • State of Connecticut Educator certificate English (015) or Social Studies (026) or Reading/Language Arts (097) or Remedial Reading & Remedial Language Arts (092)
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in school administration
  • Experience teaching at the secondary school level preferred
  • Must have experience and knowledge of RTI strategies and protocols.
  • Expertise in the use of educational technology systems to create accountability systems and facilitate student learning.
  • Proven ability to build consensus among peer professionals necessary.
  • Proven ability to evaluate and provide feedback, particularly in the area of curriculum development and instructional delivery necessary.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, leadership, and organizational skills vital.
  • Demonstrated skill as an articulate and persuasive communicator, both orally and in writing.

Salary and terms of employment are according to Torrington Public Schools Administrators Association Collective Bargaining Agreement. This is a 12-month position with an annual salary for 2024/2025 of $154,993 (pro-rated to date of hire)
