Position Overview:
With fundraising oversight for individual major gifts, leadership annual and 1827 Society giving, and planned giving, the Director is responsible for managing PHS's full pipeline of higher-level prospects and gift opportunities. Ultimately the goal is to facilitate robust relationship management activity, especially qualification, cultivation, and solicitation of donors capable of making significant philanthropic investments aligned with the organization's greatest needs.

Physical Demands: This is largely a sedentary role that requires looking at a computer screen for extended periods of time; however, some physical demands are required.
Standard Hours (including travel, evening, and weekend hours): PHS's standard office hours are 9 AM to 5 PM at team member's designated workspace. Some teams and positions work alternate hours because of the nature of their role at PHS. Your Business Unit's Working Norms document will identify alternative hours, if applicable.
Flower Show Requirements: Hours preparing for the show and the duration of the show may not follow your regular work schedule. Your Flower Show schedule will depend upon your regular position or your temporary position supporting the Flower Show. You may be required to stand for long periods of time, do extensive walking, and lift up to 25 pounds.

Primary Responsibilities:
- Lead the strategy for individual giving, including major gifts, planned giving, giving circles, and 1827 Society membership;
- Develop processes to identify top individual targets, assign prospects to portfolios, oversee a comprehensive moves management strategy, and ultimately close gifts ranging from $1,827 to over $100,000;
- Partner with the Chief Development Officer to define a multi-year revenue growth strategy primarily through individual giving;
- Manage a portfolio of major gift prospects and donors, meeting annual metrics for visits, solicitations, and closed gifts;
- Refine the planned giving strategy to include an appropriate quantity of touchpoints and effectively communicate all planned giving options;
- Participate in PHS events throughout the year including but not limited to all 1827 Society
- Stewardship events, fall and spring fundraisers, and the Philadelphia Flower Show;
- Contribute to the consistent and accurate use of Raisers Edge by the entire Individual Giving team;
- Manage the Individual Giving team's budget, including the regular reporting of finances and revenue projections and annual budgeting; and
- Supervise the Major Gifts Officer, Leadership & Planned Giving Manager, Development Officer, and Development Specialist/Prospect Researcher.
Qualifications/Specifications:
- Minimum degree required: Bachelor's Degree required
- Years of experience: An experienced fundraiser with at least 8-10 years professional experience, including 2 or more years of management experience
- Licenses/Certifications: N/A
- Driver's License: Required
- Knowledges, Skills, Abilities required for success:
- Proficiency with Raiser's Edge or a comparable donor database required
- Planned giving experience preferred
