Description
Edison State Community College invites qualified candidates to apply for the full time position of Director of Institutional Research and Data Processes. The Director of Institutional Research and Data Processes is responsible for providing accurate information about the College population to internal and external customers. External customers include the Ohio Department of Higher Education (ODHE), the Higher Learning Commission (HLC), and the U.S. Department of Education (DOE). This position is also responsible for research activities allowing the College to pursue its mission, and focuses on student entry, connection, retention and completion for demographic and funding reviews as well as research related to ongoing and proposed programs and accreditation self-studies and review. The position requires strong analytic skills, experience in higher education research, and the ability to communicate complex data effectively to diverse stakeholders.

Examples of Duties
Functional Responsibilities:Responsible for ad hoc data requests for the College and Foundation. Comply with the reporting requirements on surveys. Serve in a collaborative role to address data processes for the College. Utilize statistical software and data visualization tools (such as Tableau and Power BI) to present findings in an accessible manner. Collaborate with IT and other departments to improve data accessibility, reporting capabilities, and institutional effectiveness. Build appropriate and useful reporting deliverables. Participate in internal decision-making relative to logical and ethical data standards of entry, storage, and retrieval across the College. Management of departmental budget. Assist with the assessment and data reporting of the general education outcomes; program outcomes; and program review. Serve as data advisor to the Assessment Committee. Stay current with best practices in institutional research, higher education trends, and compliance requirements. Other duties as assigned.

Professional/Technical employees receive 3 weeks of vacation each year which begins accruing on the employee's first pay period. After five years of employment with Edison State the Professional/Technical employee will receive 3.5 weeks each year, after ten years this increases to 4 weeks, after fifteen years the employee will receive 4.5 weeks of vacation and this once again increases to 5 weeks after twenty years of employment with the college.
Sick Leave
Edison State employees receive 3 weeks of sick leave each year which begins accruing on the employees first pay period.
Holiday Pay
At the start of their employment employees are eligible to receive pay for the 11 holidays for which the campus is closed.
Tuition Waiver
Edison State employees receive 100% of their instructional fees waived for any Edison State courses they take.
Dependents (spouse or children) of full time Edison State employees receive the same 100% waiver for Edison State course instructional fees and dependents of part time employees receive a partial waiver.
Tuition Reimbursement
Edison State offers partial tuition reimbursement for continued education.
Health Club Contribution
Edison State will pay a portion of an employee's yearly premiums for a health club membership. Memberships to some local YMCA organizations can be payroll deducted.

Functional Responsibilities:
- Comply with the reporting requirements as directed by state and federal agencies including the Ohio Department of Higher Education's Information System (HEI); the Integrated Postsecondary Education Data System (IPEDS); and the Higher Learning Commission's (HLC) Annual Institutional Data Update System (AIDU). Reporting requirements include the intentional and well articulated extraction of data; interpretation of data to meet demands of the reporting structure; and timely and accurate submission.
- Manage and coordinate data submission outsourced to other institutional departments.
- Ensures that meaningful, appropriate/accurate data and supporting documentation is available to meet the decision-making needs of the College.
- Serve as Institutional Data Contact and Liaison for the Ohio Department of Higher Education, the HEI System, and the HLC/AIDU System.
- Serve as the IPEDS institutional key holder/coordinator.
- Accountable for submission of data used as the basis of the College's State Share of Instruction (SSI) from the Ohio Department of Higher Education.
- Comply with the institutional reporting and analysis requirement on all requests including but not limited to:
- Institutional surveys
- Key Performance Indicators
- Dashboard
- Enrollment Projection Model
- Gainful Employment
- College Credit Plus (CC+)
- Federal Compliance
- Board Monitoring Reports
- Student Cohort Development and Tracking
- HEI Completion Projection
- Responsible for the collection, manipulation, and analysis of institutional data:
- Research data structures, files, fields and links for information gathering.
- Write, document and supply queries and reports.
- Train and support users in the execution of queries and report writing.
- Monitor and review data queries and results completed by Institutional Research staff.
Qualifications
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Personal Qualifications:
- Strong understanding of data structures, logic and relational databases required.
- Experience with reporting tools such as SQL, Tableau, Power BI, or similar platforms.
- Strong knowledge of federal and state reporting requirements (such as IPEDS, ODHE).
- Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to translate data into actionable insights.
- Ability to manage multiple projects, meet deadlines, and work collaboratively with cross-functional teams.
- Ability to be flexible in the time allotted to complete certain tasks.
- Commitment to customer service for internal and external constituents.
- Demonstrated experience in applying self-study techniques to maintain and improve job skills.
- Experience with Microsoft Excel required.
- Experience with Ellucian Colleague, and reporter writers preferred.
Required Experience:3 to 5 years higher education experience or equivalent business experience.
Required Educational Background:
- Bachelor's degree in relevant field required.
- Degree concentration in Business, Information Systems, or Higher Education Administration preferred.
