The Director of Insurance & Risk Management is pivotal in ensuring the organization's resilience and ability to meet strategic objectives through effective risk management practices. You will be accountable for identifying, evaluating, and mitigating hazards and operational and financial risks. In addition to managing the company's insurance portfolio, you will collaborate with key stakeholders to implement best practices, educate teams on risk management, and oversee critical risk-related processes. Your expertise will directly influence the organization's ability to operate safely and efficiently while maintaining compliance and minimizing exposure.
The Director of Insurance & Risk Management is expected to balance legal and business imperatives while supporting a broad range of claims-related matters for a rapidly growing multifamily organization. You will be responsible for leading the monitoring and advancing the resolution of property-level claims; and facilitating the implementation of litigation management and risk mitigation policies and best practices. The role involves collaboration with members of internal and external stakeholders, including our operations, accounting, legal and human resources teams, etc.

Qualifications
Day to Day:
- The Director of Insurance & Risk Management is responsible for identifying, analyzing, and managing risks associated with The Collier Companies insurance requirements.
- Demonstrates effective and efficient claim management (including but not limited to settlement negotiations & mediation processes)
- Assess & provide recommendations on policy terms, conditions, and exclusions to ensure adequate coverage, based on the organization's risk profile and exposure
- Identify and evaluate hazards, operational risks, and financial exposures.
- Monitor company values and exposures to ensure proper insurance coverage.
- Manage the insurance renewal process, including gathering information, working with brokers, and arranging site visits.
- Interface with lenders to ensure lending requirements are satisfied.
- Promote understanding of insurance costs and risk practices.
- Calculate, allocate, and bill the cost of risk to each property.
- Analyze & present risk and insurance related budget projections.
- Evaluate and select third-party service providers, including underwriters, brokers, and claim administrators.
- Organize & maintain insurance policies and all applicable documentation.
- Review and advise on insurance requirements for company contracts.
- Establish and maintain a Risk Management Information System (RMIS).
- Drafting, reviewingand/or managing delivery of documents in connection with claims or litigation matters, such as releases or discovery responses.
- Organizing case files, tracking case status, coordinating with local counsel, and generally assisting The Collier Companies in-house counsel with preparations for active litigation and pre-litigation matters.
- Coordinating and responding to subpoenas or other requests for information relating to residents or employees.
- Communicating with properties to ensure incidents and claims are properly documented (start to finish).
- Reviewing and summarizing incident reports and participating in regular meetings to review materials incidents.
- Serving as a liaison with insurance adjusters, legal teams, and operational staff in cases of escalated claims.
- Collaborating on initiatives to improve efficiency and risk posture in our litigation and claims management.
Your Skills - Show Us What You Got:
- Possesses a strong network of insurance brokers (preferably within the state of Florida)
- Preferred experience working within the state of Florida (multifamily housing experience is a plus) & is up-to-datewithin the state of Florida insurance landscape.
- 5+ years of experience in risk and insurance within corporate risk management.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficiency with information systems and software applications.
- In-depth knowledge of property, casualty, and management liability coverage lines.
- In-depth knowledge of general liability & rentersinsurance.
- Experience with sophisticated risk financing techniques.
