Job Description

The Director of Licensing will be a strategic leader, responsible for driving the company's licensing growth globally. This role will lead the development and execution of a comprehensive licensing strategy to expand revenue streams, elevate brand equity, and foster long-term, mutually beneficial relationships with licensors, licensing agents, and brand owners. You will work cross-functionally with key departments-product development, production, legal, and accounting-to ensure seamless execution of licensing agreements, maximization of brand impact, and alignment with overall corporate goals. This leader will be a key member of the senior executive team and will contribute significantly to the global merchandising strategy.

Responsibilities
- Licensing Strategy & Growth: Develop and execute a global licensing strategy that aligns with market trends, brand vision, and company capabilities. Identify new opportunities to grow the licensing portfolio, with an emphasis on innovative and high revenue-generating partnerships.
- Contract Negotiation & Execution: Lead the negotiation and execution of licensing agreements, ensuring favorable terms (royalty rates, advances, guarantees, and key contractual obligations) that support revenue growth while protecting the company's interests.
- Relationship Management: Cultivate and maintain strong, long-term relationships with licensors, licensing agents, and brand owners. Ensure ongoing compliance with licensing terms and optimize collaborative efforts to maximize brand visibility and sales potential.
- Cross-Functional Leadership: Work closely with internal teams-product development, legal, accounting, production and sales-to ensure alignment on contract timelines, inventory management, sales forecasting, and product launch planning.
- Brand Positioning & Market Differentiation: Lead efforts to position licensed products effectively in the marketplace, ensuring alignment with brand values and differentiation from competitors.
- Team Leadership & Development: Lead and mentor the licensing team, ensuring accountability and clear ownership of goals. Foster a collaborative and results-driven team culture.
- Industry Awareness: Stay ahead of industry trends, licensing innovations, and best practices to continuously refine and optimize the company's licensing strategy.
- Performance Tracking & Reporting: Monitor and report on the performance of licensing agreements, ensuring key milestones and financial targets are met.
- Corporate Social Responsibility: Work cross-functionally with product development, production, and legal to ensure the supply chain meets the fair labor standards set forth by the industry.

Skills and Knowledge
Ability to thrive in a high growth and entrepreneurial environment where strong project management skills and the ability to juggle multiple priorities are a must, Ability to use Excel to analyze data and provide actional insights, ability to work cooperatively and collaboratively with all levels of employees and executive management, Strong negotiation skills

Qualifications

Qualifications - 5+ years in developing and executing successful product licensing strategies, preferably in apparel or consumer products. Direct experience in manufacturing is a plus. 5+ years managing a team
