Job Summary:

Provides leadership, direction and coordination of the integration of Magnet standards into the nursing and hospital infrastructure, including the coordination of Magnet application, reporting, designation and re-designation.

Job Requirements:

Education and Work Experience:
  • Graduate from an accredited school/college of nursing, as applicable: Required
  • Bachelor's Degree in nursing/clinical profession or equivalent combination of education/related experience: Required
  • Master's Degree: Preferred
  • Seven years technical experience: Preferred
  • Five years leadership experience: Preferred


Licenses/Certifications:
  • Registered Nurse (RN) licensure in the state of practice: Preferred
  • Specialty certification: Preferred
  • Registered Nurse (RN) license in state of practice: Required


Essential Functions:
  • Leads with an operational focus, setting local strategy, objectives and policies. Oversees the development and maintenance of Magnet designation, evidence-based patient care standards and a competency assessment system. Leads department(s) activities through managers and supervisors, including full human resources, cost and financial accountability.
  • Coordinates and evaluates ongoing efforts to achieve and maintain Magnet designation, improve the quality and cost effectiveness of nursing practice on clinical care, promoting and participating in the development of an integrated, multidisciplinary health care system. Works within broad guidelines; applies advanced technical knowledge of multiple departments to solve complex problems which may have long-term impact on the department(s).
  • Serve as advisor to Nursing Leadership regarding Magnet Standards; facilitates nursing leadership understanding of Magnet standards in to nursing practice; promotes strategic planning to implement Magnet standards; provides Magnet information and data for nursing reports; Reviews and recommends changes to policies and procedures based on Magnet standards; Interprets vendor database, reports, and interventions
  • Facilitates development of market governance and decision making; Researches strategies, makes recommendations, facilitates education and training, and mentors nurses for market governance system
  • Serves as liaison to ANCC Magnet Program Office (MPO); stays appraised of ANCC revisions or changes to application process; Coordinates clarification of Magnet standards and processes; Validates decisions from MPO
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
