Green Acres first opened its doors in Roseville, California, in 2003, and since then has expanded to seven locations in the greater Sacramento area and three locations in North Texas. The company is family owned and operated.

The Director of Marketing is a key leadership role responsible for delivering modern, data-driven acquisition and retention strategies for all company brands, and for driving meaningful growth of consumer awareness and store foot traffic. The Director of Marketing has high accountability for results that drive brand engagement and achieve the company's KPIs. The Director of Marketing is closely aligned with senior leadership and owners, and is responsible for providing regular updates on progress, challenges, and future opportunities.

This position is a full-time, exempt position based out of our Support Center in the greater Sacramento area of CA, and reports to the Vice President of Merchandise & Operations.

Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:
  • Creates and executes a comprehensive marketing strategy and sophisticated advertising delivery plans for all brands using modern marketing solutions
  • Develops and oversees all aspects of marketing, including corporate communications, public relations, consumer relations, advertising and collateral, websites, all creative and photography, seasonal campaigns, in-store signage, promotions, events, and more
  • Manages and protects all company brands, embracing the personality and attributes of each
  • Enhances digital and social marketing campaigns
  • Identifies and understands our unique environment and the distinct needs of our customer personas, and determines channels of engagement, personalization levers, and targeted messaging to grow market share for each
  • Analyzes and leverages customer data to deliver on sales and margin growth targets
  • Monitors competition and creates strategies based on differentiators to capture market share
  • Develops and manages the annual marketing budget and annual marketing calendar for each brand
  • Works cross-functionally with Merchandising and Operations to leverage company marketing initiatives to drive sales and build the brands
  • Regularly reports progress and KPIs to senior leadership and owners
  • Leads and develops a strong Marketing team to execute on all marketing-driven initiatives to support the business' growth and needs
  • Provides a strategic voice and thought leadership within the company
  • Works effectively and transparently with all stakeholders in a partner-like fashion, establishing strong and respectful working relationships at all levels within the company
  • Creates a climate of engagement and productivity by empowering others and encouraging them to contribute to ideas and decision-making
  • Navigates ambiguity and defines clarity for team members and others to ensure effectiveness
  • Manages all marketing vendors and third-party professionals, including working with strategic vendors on co-op marketing and funding
  • Utilizes, maintains, and grows the company's intellectual property library
  • Assists with the creation and development of the company's online commerce businesses

Candidate Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in marketing, advertising or similar
  • 5+ years of retail marketing leadership experience using modern marketing solutions, with digital, multi-market, and multi-brand management experience
  • Experience managing professional Marketing teams of five employees or more (including remote employees), with ability to build and manage a lean high-performing team
  • Ability and willingness to learn about our industry; experience or existing knowledge a strong plus
  • Passionate about the role marketing plays in meeting the needs of our customers, supporting our employees, and ensuring the overall success of the company
  • Strong business acumen with excellent analytic skills, good judgement, and exceptional organizational, critical thinking, decision-making, and problem-solving skills
  • Comfort with and understanding of utilizing and managing digital marketing platforms and on-line commerce
  • Autonomous leader with a strong work ethic who works well independently and as a team player, with ability to quickly prioritize and adapt as business needs dictate
  • Ability to respectfully interact with people at all levels, develop rapport with individuals in multiple locations, and work within the desired company culture
  • Creative thinker with passion for tackling new challenges
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (verbal, active listening, written, confidentiality)
  • Strong writing (creative and business) and editorial skills
  • Proficiency in MS Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Outlook, as well Adobe Acrobat Pro, and comfortable using multiple online platforms
  • Local and long-distance travel within company markets to work with operational teams at our retail and wholesale locations to support marketing initiatives, plan and attend company events, plan for company representation at and attend trade shows, and other as needed
