As our Director of Marketing, you will lead the development, execution, and ongoing evolution of our marketing and public relations strategy. In this role, you'll collaborate cross-functionally across the organization-particularly with sales and leadership teams-to position X by 2 as a trusted consultancy and elevate our brand in the marketplace.

The ideal candidate is a strategic thinker, a strong communicator, and a hands-on leader with a proven track record of building and leading a marketing department-especially within a small company environment where adaptability, self-direction, and initiative are key. You should be energized by the opportunity to bring structure to a fast-moving organization, comfortable pushing back when needed, and unafraid of diving into ambiguity to drive clarity and results.

Ultimately, we're looking for a change agent-someone who can bring fresh ideas, challenge the status quo, and develop creative, results-driven approaches that generate visibility, build credibility, and drive new business opportunities.

Key Responsibilities
    • Define and evolve X by 2's brand identity, marketing, and PR strategy.
    • Build a high-performing marketing function, from shaping its structure to hiring and/or managing resources to fill skill gaps.
    • Identify and implement marketing initiatives that align with both immediate business needs and long-term growth objectives.
    • Develop and execute marketing programs that generate new sales leads, attract qualified talent, and strengthen brand perception internally and externally.
    • Manage the creative execution of marketing campaigns from concept through delivery, partnering with internal stakeholders and external vendors.
    • Create systems to measure the success and ROI of marketing initiatives, using insights to guide future decisions.
    • Conceive, plan, and execute compelling campaigns, messaging, and tactics that engage target audiences and differentiate X by 2 in the market.


Qualifications
    • Minimum of 8 years of proven experience in creative marketing and marketing leadership roles.
    • Demonstrated success building or significantly scaling a marketing function, preferably within a small company
    • Strong background in B2B marketing, particularly within technology consulting or professional services sectors.
    • Experience with market research and data analysis to inform strategic planning.
    • Excellent judgment on when to roll up your sleeves versus when to delegate-along with a strong network of trusted vendors, freelancers, or agencies.
    • Track record of building and driving successful marketing programs that produce measurable results.
    • Broad experience across marketing disciplines, including communications, branding, positioning, and messaging.
    • A confident leader and strategist-comfortable making decisions, offering a point of view, and collaborating across departments.
    • BA/BS in Marketing or a related field required.
    • Local to the metro Detroit area and available to work in-office a few days per week.
