Summary

The Director of Media and Community Relations is responsible for developing and executing a comprehensive public relations strategy to include media and community relations that enhances the visibility and reputation of The Boca Raton. This role includes managing media inquiries, coordinating with public relations agencies, fostering community relationships, and external / internal communication. Strategies will support The Boca Raton's business and revenue objectives, increase awareness and positive perception of the resort and Club, its dining venues, spa, onsite experiences, and executives. The ideal candidate will be a strategic thinker on a global level with excellent communication skills and a proven track record in media relations and community engagement.

Essential Functions

Job duties include, although are not limited to:
Strategic Planning:

o Develop and execute a strategic and integrated annual public relations plan that targets National, Local and International markets, as part of larger resort marketing plan, which focuses on media relations, storytelling, segment strategies, and key PR initiatives, in addition to community relations.

o Create innovative publicity programs to drive awareness and positive perception of the resort and Club, onsite experiences, services, and key executives, etc.
Media Relations / Agency Management:

o Public Relations Agency Management: Day-to-day management of PR agency partners: national, international, and local to ensure accountability and execution of plan, strong results and ROI.

o Manage local, regional, and national media relations. Includes proactive story pitching, timely fulfillment of reactive media inquiries, build and maintain editorial relationships, oversee media photoshoots, and support social media strategies.

o Host media visits and tours, organize fam trips; coordinate their itineraries.

o Directly handle developing and maintaining local South Florida and regional media and influencer relations. Work with local PR agency.

o Vet and handle reactive media requests from international media outlets that are not geographically covered by an existing PR agency.

o Oversee the management of media events on-site.

o Work with Integrated Marketing Manager to manage relationships and stays for social media influencers to amplify key messages and initiatives.
Community Relations / Reputation Management:

o Cultivate and maintain relationships with community partners, including local organizations, industry groups, and community leaders.

o Develop and manage community outreach programs to enhance the resort's presence and reputation within the local community.

o Represent The Boca Raton by attending major local organization events throughout the year, and coordinate attendance for resort executives as appropriate.

o Oversee and organize The Boca Raton's Community Engagement team and maximize efforts and efficiency across the team.

o Monitor public perception, develop key messages and manage issues. Serve as on-property communications contact during crisis situations if they arise, working in close relationship with Exec Director of Communications.
PR Responsibilities include:

o Writing of press releases, fact sheets, Q&As, talking points for executives, and other external communications materials.

o PR toolkit development and maintenance: Maintain a comprehensive PR toolkit, including fact sheets, press releases, staff profiles, and other media assets.
Research and Trend Analysis:

o Stay abreast of industry trends and competition to inform strategy and execution.

o Regularly evaluate and report on the effectiveness of media and community relations initiatives.

Internal Relationships / Alignments
Collaborate with all members of Marketing Communications team to develop strategies and timelines, maximize efforts and brainstorm new ideas.
Work closely with resort's operational departments on strategies, marketing and promotions; Maintain positive cooperative working relationships.

Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Communications, Public Relations, Marketing, or a related field.
8+ years of experience in media relations or public relations.
Proven ability to develop and execute strategic media and community relations plans.
Strong network of media contacts and experience managing PR agencies.
An adept storyteller. Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
A tenacious self-starter who can multi-task and prioritize, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
Strong organizational and project management skills.
Experience in the hospitality industry is a plus.

Physical Requirements

Position is based on property in Boca Raton, Florida.

This position requires travel to attend media and community events.
