Job Summary:

The Director of Membership Sales will oversee all aspects of New Membership Sales. This position will assist in developing and executing sales strategies that deliver revenue targets for the Detroit Red Wings and Detroit Tigers. The Director of Membership Sales is responsible for leading the Membership Sales and Inside Sales team; including the Manager of Inside Sales, and will report into the Sr. Director of Ticket Sales.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Drive new Detroit Tigers and Detroit Red Wings Season Ticket Memberships through effective business planning and strategic management of the Membership Sales and Inside Sales Team.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of sales plans for achieving annual and long-term revenue and profitability growth targets.
  • Oversee the planning of revenue driving sales activations and innovative product offerings throughout the year.
  • Establish and monitor staff performance and development goals, assign accountabilities, set objectives, establish priorities, conduct annual performance appraisals; hire, develop, evaluate, mentor and manage team; ensure appropriate organization structure(s), level of staffing and build bench strength.
  • Mentor and develop staff using a supportive and collaborative approach on a consistent basis.
  • Demonstrate a leadership approach/style that promotes the values of the organization; provide effective leadership and management oversight to all sales and service teams.
  • Create and maintain a constant teaching/learning environment for all colleagues aimed at implementing best practices in the areas on sales and service.
  • Develop and monitor key performance indicators and metrics which drive results and provide informed recommendations and effective decision making.
  • Promote a culture of high performance and continuous improvement that values learning and a commitment to quality, openness, diversity and a consistently safe work environment.
  • Oversee continual sales training to staff including the understanding and use of technology such as Conversica and Microsoft Dynamics to help their sales and customer service efforts.
  • Reports KPIs measuring the success of campaigns; gathers and provides analytics to evaluate effectiveness of strategy, initiatives and campaigns.
  • Provide detailed reports on an ongoing basis, ensuring the accuracy of reports and identifying trends.
  • Work with staff to develop metrics to measure account holder concerns to develop long term, ongoing solutions.
  • Create aggressive monthly sales campaigns and contests to drive revenues from current season ticket base.
  • Promote a culture of high performance and continuous improvement that values learning and a commitment to quality.


Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Bachelor's degree in business, Sports Management or related field.
  • Minimum 5 years of progressively responsible and relevant experience in sports sales.
  • Previous management experience.
  • Exceptional track record of developing and implementing sales strategies that have consistently met or exceeded planned objectives.
  • Evidence of being a strategic thinker with the ability to develop and implement processes and plans.
  • Evidence of a successful leadership track record with high ethical standards.
  • Extensive knowledge of Tickets.com and Salesforce CRM a plus.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to handle multiple projects.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.


Working Conditions:
  • Office Environment.
  • Irregular and extended hours including nights, weekends, and holidays.
