Director of Network Engineering

Description

Reporting to the Chief Operations Officer (COO), the Director of Network Engineering will spearhead the strategic expansion and scaling of Dobson Fiber's fiber network to residential areas. This role demands a unique blend of technical depth, strategic foresight, and leadership excellence. You will play a pivotal role in Dobson Fiber's mission to deliver state-of-the-art broadband services to homes, driving significant impact on community connectivity and business growth.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Collaborate with executive leadership to develop and execute the strategic vision for the FTTP/FTTH/FTTB network, aligning with the company's overall business goals.
• Lead the strategic planning, execution, and scaling of Dobson Fiber's FTTH initiative, ensuring the deployment of a robust and reliable fiber network to residential communities.
• Drive the Capacity Planning and Network commissioning strategies to support the expansion of FTTH and other optical services, optimizing network performance and scalability.
• Cultivate a high-performing team environment, motivating staff to excel in the deployment and maintenance of FTTH networks the network.
• Champion the development of innovative solutions and practices that enhance the efficiency and quality of Dobson Fiber's fiber optic services.
• Foster cross-departmental collaboration to ensure the FTTH initiative aligns with overall business objectives and customer satisfaction goals.
• Provide visionary leadership in the adoption of new technologies and methodologies to support the dynamic needs of network deployment and maintenance.
• Develop comprehensive budget and resource plans to support the FTTH expansion, ensuring projects are delivered on time and within budget.

PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE/QUALIFICATIONS

• 15+ years of experience in network engineering and operations, with a focus on fiber optic telecommunications.
• At least 5 years of leadership experience managing large-scale telecom service provider projects and teams, with proven success in strategic planning and execution.
• In-depth knowledge of FTTP/FTTH/FTTB technologies, protocols and standards.
• DWDM, ROADM, GPON/FTTH optical transport
• Metro Ethernet Forum (MEF), carrier Ethernet (EPL, EVPL, ELAN)
• IPv4/v6 including BGP, OSPF, MPLS, SD-Wan
• Experience with network design, implementation and optimization.
• Demonstrated ability to lead through change, fostering innovation and growth within technical teams.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the capacity to engage effectively with all levels of the organization and external partners.
• Proficient in project management, with a track record of delivering complex projects on schedule and within budget.

EDUCATION

• Bachelor's degree in engineering or relevant other field.
