Position Summary:
Director of Network Services is responsible for the day-to-day tactical management, technical direction, and leadership of the network infrastructure. These include data center, cloud and SAN infrastructure, data center applications, network administration, network engineering, database administration, security systems, wireless, and telecom services. This individual works closely with the IT Services Leadership Team, IT Services subdivisions, and other business units to ensure alignment with business objectives, and ensure stability, uptime, and reliability of these systems. The individual in this role should have strong personnel management, communication, and interpersonal skills, as well as have a solid grasp of how to run and manage complex infrastructure.

Position Summary:

Essential Duties:
- Coordinates cyber security controls around all internal network systems.
- Establishes, monitors, and analyzes performance metrics and service level agreements, as well as operational level agreements, to ensure business and customer needs are being properly met.
- Develops, implements, and maintains plans, policies, and procedures for IT Security, Network Operations, and Disaster Recovery.
- Is held accountable for the security of the IT infrastructure in compliance with industry best practices and regulatory requirements
- Maintains the end-to-end availability and performance of mission critical services and implements network task automation to prevent problem recurrence
- Oversees all aspects of the IT infrastructure operations, network communication (LAN, WAN, email, etc.), data center, databases, automation, and networking software
- Leads strategic technology initiatives which build and maintain key elements of the District's enterprise infrastructure, including but not limited to 24x7 data center and cloud infrastructure management and strategy, active directory integration, and software-defined internetworking.
- Owns the ITIL/IT Service Management processes that support technology operations and service transition including change management, security management, demand management, event management, IT operations managements, technical management, capacity management, access management, service continuity management, etc.
- Develops, manages and tests the District's backup, recovery and Disaster Recovery capabilities
- Stays current with industry best practices related to current and new technology, and information security developments, network operating systems, and directory services.
- Ensures all infrastructure systems configuration and operating procedures are fully documented and properly maintained.
- Interacts with and manage outside vendors, outsourcers, and service providers to procure and deliver technology products, services, and contracts.
- Ensures that the team provide exceptional customer support by developing and maintaining a culture, procedures, and processes that provide high quality customer support and maintenance for existing and future technology
- Ensures that the team respond to help desk tickets, telephone calls, email and other requests for technical support in timely manner including feedback and closure
- Ensures that the team submit help desk tickets for work performed on behalf of a customer if one does not exist.
- Ensures procedures are in place to provide support and protect technology including maintaining password security, data integrity, and file system security
- Conducts operational testing to insure that requested software products are compatible with the District networks.
- Plans for network software and hardware upgrades to remain functionally and technically current.
- Performs all other related duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills and/or Abilities):
- Bachelor's degree in computer science, network related technologies or related field
- Minimum of five (5) years of experience in managing a complex IT infrastruture
- Experience managing a cloud environment and migrating applications to the cloud
- Ability to manage large complex programs with multiple functional stakeholders
- Excellent oral and written communication skills, adaptable to a variety of audiences.
- Proven leadership abilities, with the capacity to work independently and prioritize tasks in a collaborative environment.
Preferred Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills and/or Abilities):
- Advanced IT certification beyond CompTIA A+, CompTIA Network+, CompTIA Security+, CompTIA IT Fundamentals+, Cisco CCENT, Cisco CCT, Microsoft MCP, Microsoft TA, Microsoft MCSA

Physical/Mental Requirements:
- Must have adequate manual dexterity to write legibly and perform required duties on the computer.
- Must have adequate visual acuity to read, interpret and transcribe written material and other required duties.
- Requires normal range of hearing and clear speaking abilities to interact appropriately with others in person and on the telephone.
- Requires some stooping, bending, stretching and occasional lifting not to exceed 25 pounds.
- Sitting for prolonged periods of time.
- Proficient in using technology for effective communication and program management.
- May periodically require work outside of normal business hours, including weekends, under sometimes, stressful conditions in order to meet business needs and strict deadlines.
