The University is currently accredited by the Higher Learning Commission (HLC) and the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE) to offer the Bachelor of Science in Nursing in a RN-BSN track.
The University plans to expand its nursing programs to include a pre-licensure BSN track and other nursing education programs. The renovation of the nursing simulation lab to support the pre-licensure BSN track has begun and is scheduled for completion in August 2024.
Job Summary
In their role as Chief Nursing Administrator, the Director of Nursing will oversee all nursing programs and will serve as the primary contact for the CCNE and Michigan Board of Nursing.
Primary responsibilities include oversight of curriculum, delivery, and development; strategic planning for the program, including student recruitment and retention strategies; maintaining necessary approvals for the program in Michigan and with regional and national accreditors; and program budget management.
The successful candidate will have the vision and energy to lead the development of additional nursing programming at the undergraduate and graduate levels in future years.
Responsibilities
Implement strategies to ensure quality, viability and cost effectiveness of the program; Oversee curriculum coordination, delivery and development for the program; Manage nursing faculty and staff; Collaborate with the director of adult professional and graduate admissions on strategies for student recruitment; Collaborate with appropriate areas on campus to increase retention of nursing students; Oversee student advising for the Nursing Pathways programs; Develop and execute partnerships with other educational institutions and healthcare partners with the intention of serving the needs of local communities for the preparation of baccalaureate-trained nurses; Program budget management and oversight; Other duties as assigned by the dean of faculty or provost.
Qualifications
Master's Degree in Nursing required, Doctorate in Nursing preferred. (EdD, PhD, and DNP acceptable) Previous experience with college-level teaching required. Current unrestricted Michigan Nursing License required. 3 years of leadership experience, preferred
