Position Summary:
The Nursing Director is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the assigned Nursing department, ensuring that policies, procedures, standards, and objectives are established and enforced. This position supervises staff, manages workflow, and holds budgetary or fiscal accountability. The Nursing Director is responsible 24 hours a day for the ongoing effective operation of the department, maintaining a leadership role that supports the hospital's mission, vision, goals, and objectives, while focusing on patient, physician, employee, volunteer, and community satisfaction. The position is accountable for continuous assessment, improvement, coordination, and integration of department services and standards of care into the hospital's primary functions. This includes approving timekeeping, employee evaluations, regulatory standards compliance, supply orders, and strategic planning.

Responsibilities:
- Ensure the ongoing effective operation of the Nursing department.
- Establish and enforce department policies, procedures, and standards.
- Supervise nursing staff, managing their schedules, performance, and development.
- Oversee the coordination and integration of department services and standards of care within the hospital.
- Approve timekeeping, supply orders, and employee evaluations.
- Meet applicable regulatory standards and maintain compliance.
- Lead department strategic planning and ensure it aligns with hospital goals.
- Maintain effective communication with employees, physicians, customers, and the community.
Qualifications:
Education:
- Required: Associate degree from an accredited nursing school, with a Bachelor's degree in a healthcare-related field, or a BSN.
- Preferred: MSN or a master's degree in a healthcare-related field.
Experience:
- Required: At least 2 years of progressive management experience in a hospital setting as a manager or director, and 3+ years of experience in surgical services/OR.
Certifications:
- Required: Currently licensed, certified, or registered to practice as required by state law or policy, including CPR certification.
