JOB SUMMARY: Working under the direction of the Chief Operating Officer, the Director of Nursing oversees the nursing department and works with the nursing leadership team to provide collaborative, strategic, operational and clinical leadership that will help to ensure that patient care and quality are optimized in order to meet patient needs and the mission of Jericho Road Community Health Center in providing quality patient care.
Essential Job Duties
PATIENT CARE
SUPERVISION & ADMINISTRATION
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Must be able to sit or stand for long periods of time. Exert up to 50lbs. pushing, pulling, or lifting. Walking, climbing stairs required. Able to talk/hear and communicate with others with or without reasonable accommodation.
TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS: Must be able to travel to sites while maintaining standards of safety and compliance with motor vehicle traffic laws. This position may require travel for necessary training and conferences.

QUALIFICATIONS:
- Graduation from an accredited nursing program with a current New York State licensure as an RN
- Experience managing a nursing team preferred
- Direct experience in a primary care setting preferred
- Reliable transportation between sites is required.
- Current CPR and Basic Life Support certification (BLS)
- Maintain credentials, attend seminars, and fulfill all licensure requirements including continuing education.

Essential Job Duties
PATIENT CARE
- Collaborate with other clinical teams to improve patient outcomes and provide quality care.
- Ensure all clinical care is delivered in a manner that meets or exceeds goals and expectations for clinical outcomes, quality assurance standards, state/local regulations, and patient satisfaction.
- Ensure all actions, personal conduct, and communications always represent the organizational values in a highly professional manner.
- Manage patient data and medical records with compliance to all HIPAA standards
- Communicate with doctors, patients, and family members about patient health
- Maintain high standards of care for all patients
SUPERVISION & ADMINISTRATION
- Oversee and provide direction to nurse managers at Jericho Road sites
- Ensure that each nurse on staff is properly certified and abides by the standards for care established by our organization and state and federal laws
- Assist nurse managers with recruiting, 30,60,90 day reviews, annual review and disciplinary actions as need for the department
- Work Collaboratively with the operation teams on projects that support Jericho Road strategic goals
- Implement and oversee development strategies intended to enhance the delivery of clinical nursing care and the professional growth of staff.
- Travel between sites as necessary
- Lead the nursing staff in delivering excellent care to patients and offering quality support to the medical staff
- Ensure regular reviews, trainings and skills checklists are up to date for the entire nursing team staff
- Lead projects as assigned or approved, such as transitions of care.
- Implement new processes and procedures under the guidance from the Chief Operating Officer
- Oversee nurse training to include onboarding and standardization.
- Ensure that each staff nurse is properly certified and abides by the standards for care established by our organization and other governing bodies.
- Implement quality improvement cycles designed to help deliver the highest possible levels of service.
- Participate as a key member of the Clinical Quality Committee
- Participate in Patient Safety & Risk Management meetings
- Collaborate with the senior leadership team to develop and implement policies and procedures that improve patient care
- Be accountable for department budget
