Position Summary:
As part of the executive management team for the hospitals, plan, direct, manage, and evaluate a comprehensive nursing practice program with full responsibility for the leadership and professional development of nursing staff. Responsible for the operation of nursing services, including determining the types and numbers of nursing personnel and staff necessary to provide nursing care for all areas of the hospital. May also be responsible for other ancillary departments as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications, Education and Experience:
Graduate of an accredited school of nursing. Minimum 10 years' experience in a management role mandatory. Possesses at least a bachelor's degree or preferably a master's degree in nursing, health care administration or business administration or be progressing under a written plan to obtain the administration qualifications associated with a master's degree above.
License and Certifications
Current Registered Nurse licensure in the state of Texas or compact equivalent.
Current certification(s) required -BLS, ACLS,
Current certification preferred - PALS
Who you will be reporting to:
Chief Administrative Officer (CAO)
What you will do (Roles and Responsibilities:
*Promotes the mission, vision and values of the organization
*Responsible for the development, approval and implementation of all nursing service policies and procedures.
*Together with senior medical and administrative staff, participate in the establishment of the mission, strategic plan, budgets, resource allocation, operational plans, and policies for the hospital.
*Participate in the preparation of annual operating budgets for nursing services, including direct labor, material and supplies, services, equipment maintenance and replacement.
*Ensure the Infection Control System and associated activities adequately address issues identified throughout the organization and there are prevention, correction, improvement and training programs to address these issues and provide adequate resources to accomplish the associated activities of the infection control program.
*Responsible for the operation of nursing services, including determining the types and numbers of nursing personnel and staff necessary to provide nursing care for all areas of the hospital.
*Assure the hospital is in compliance with all applicable Federal and State laws and in accordance with organization policies and procedures regarding the health and safety of its patients.
*Facilitate full integration of nursing services with medical and administrative decision-making structures of the hospital.
*Keep the CEO informed on status of nursing services and make recommendations, as necessary, concerning means of reducing operational costs, increasing revenues based on knowledge of market trends, operating procedures and reimbursement matters.
*Appoint, supervise, and evaluate clinical leadership staff and others within chain of command.
*Establish and maintain cost-effective recruitment practice and programs for nursing services.
*Communicate within and across departments to maximize effectiveness, efficiently and information sharing
*Ensures all Human Resource and Hospital policies and procedures are followed according to standards for direct reports
*Define the qualifications and performance expectations for all staff positions through the Performance Development system, including department specific job descriptions and measurable performance standards.
*In collaboration with the CEO and Medical staff, and governing body the CNO shall be responsible for the hospitals-wide quality assessment and performance improvement program and training programs shall address problems identified by the infection control professional.
*Responsible for the implementation of successful corrective action plans in affected problem areas.
*Adopt, implement and enforce a procedure to verify that hospital nursing personnel for whom licensure is required have valid and current licensure.
*Other duties as assigned.
