Position Summary:

Become an integral part of our mission-driven team at Children's Mercy-Camber Olathe Hospital as the Director of Nursing (DON). Starting no sooner than July 1, 2024, you'll lead nursing efforts in our upcoming hospital opening in December 2024. As the highest level of local nursing leadership, you will ensure quality care delivery, compliance with regulatory standards, and alignment with KVC's mission. Your role includes serving as a liaison between site leadership and nursing staff, participating in administrative meetings, overseeing nursing education/training, and maintaining clinical excellence. Location:
  • Olathe, Kansas

Education:
  • Master of Science in Nursing,
    • or currently enrolled in a master's program with relevant experience, or documented education plan

Requirements:
  • Valid driver's license
  • Valid auto insurance
  • Must be at least 21 years old
  • Registered Nurse license in Kansas
  • ANCC certification as a psychiatric nurse preferred

Experience:
  • Minimum of two years' experience in psychiatric nursing
  • Prior supervisory experience preferred

Preferred Experience/Skills:
  • Intermediate skills in Microsoft Office Suite
  • Proficiency in Electronic Health Record technology

Essential Duties:
  • Provide inclusive leadership to nursing staff, promoting respect and collaboration.
  • Serve as Nursing Department Administrator, collaborating with Hospital Directors to innovate programs.
  • Act as a liaison between site leadership and nursing staff, ensuring adherence to regulatory standards.
  • Participate in administrative and site meetings, and oversee nursing education/training.
  • Conduct performance evaluations, disciplinary actions, and address complaints in collaboration with HR.
  • Ensure compliance with standards and regulations set by accrediting agencies.
  • Oversee clinical responsibilities, including patient transfers, compliance, and special treatment procedures.
  • Support recruitment, retention, engagement, and recognition of nursing staff excellence.
  • Serve as a Site Administrator on call and provide supervision as needed.
