What you will be doing
As the Director of Maintenance and Operational Reliability, you will play a pivotal leadership role in overseeing the maintenance and operational efficiency of our extensive network of Manufacturing Facilities. Provide technical and professional leadership for the Maintenance Excellence and Reliability process. The objective is to achieve a high level of asset preservation and equipment reliability that delivers optimal operating capacity at reduced operating costs across the Manufacturing operations, with year-over-year support to ensure continuous improvement and sustained performance.

Main responsibilities
Strategic Leadership: Spearhead the development and execution of advanced, cost-efficient maintenance strategies to achieve equipment reliability and uptime exceeding 98%. Implement Reliability Centered Maintenance and Changeover Reduction Initiatives to optimize performance.
Asset Management: Address deferred facility maintenance across all manufacturing sites through comprehensive facility and equipment condition assessments, coupled with robust long-term project and capital planning.
Continuous Improvement: Collaborate with MIS to drive continuous enhancements in the utility and cost-efficiency of CMMS. Focus on generating valuable management reports, refining maintenance performance metrics, simplifying data entry, and reducing maintenance inventory costs.
Training and Development: Partner with Manufacturing Operations to design and implement effective maintenance skills assessments and ongoing training programs, ensuring the workforce is equipped to meet task requirements.
Maintenance Oversight: Establish, maintain, and refine an ongoing assessment process to evaluate and enhance the effectiveness of comprehensive maintenance efforts, ensuring production capacity and competitive manufacturing costs for the operations customer base.
Technical Resource and Leadership: Provide expert engineering guidance and leadership to manufacturing plants in developing capital budgets and executing capital improvements aimed at driving operational reliability and performance enhancements.
Business Growth and Innovation: Support the evaluation of new business and line extension opportunities to bolster outside sales efforts.
Reliability Engineering Expertise: Offer engineering counsel and leadership to all manufacturing plants in establishing and optimizing preventive maintenance programs, employee training initiatives, manpower scheduling techniques, efficiency improvement programs, and regulatory compliance measures. Serve as the central point for defining best maintenance and engineering practices.
Data-Driven Insights: Leverage data analytics and performance metrics to provide strategic engineering and management counsel, fostering the development of Maintenance and Operational Excellence initiatives within the manufacturing business.
Building Maintenance Leadership Bench Strength: Collaborate with Operations to identify and select maintenance leadership candidates for succession planning, ensuring a strong leadership pipeline.
Safety and Compliance: Advocate for a safety-first culture by enforcing stringent safety protocols, regulatory standards, and industry best practices. Work closely with safety teams to identify and mitigate potential hazards and risks.
What we are searching for
Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Technical Engineering, from an accredited school, in addition to excellent communication skills and computer literacy.
Desirable to be fluent in MS Project and AutoCAD.
Requires 7+ years' experience in the food manufacturing industry dealing with: Creating equipment and construction specifications, establishing life cycle costing estimates, developing performance criteria and vertical startup testing protocols for new Projects. Developing maintenance strategies and conducting reliability engineering activities. Supporting EPA and OSHA requirements, and knowledge of GMPs.
3-5 years' work experience as a plant engineer with project management background preferred.
Must have a developed facilitative/coaching style of management and pursue non-directed activities in dealing with plant opportunities.
PC proficient. Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite, Microsoft project, Business Objects, AutoCAD, and Visio.
Consulting (including internal consulting) experience is a big plus
