POSITION SUMMARY:
- Plans, organizes, directs, and leads the departmental functions and activities for the ancillary service departments, insuring twenty-four hour (24) a day services are available to meet the needs of MCH patients and medical staff. Annually participate in development and implements, in collaboration with managers, staff and administration, the hospital-wide Plan for the Provision of Patient Care.
- Responsible for the establishment of department operational practices and policies, consistent with Hospital-wide operation goals and objectives. Will ensure implementation of policies and procedures are executed to enhance hospital operations and ensure the Hospital mission is met.
- Participates in the establishment and implementation of a hospital wide Quality Assessment / Performance Improvement Program related to department processes. Develops, coordinates and oversees programs in assigned departments, designed to monitor, measure and improve the quality of services and patient safety and to patients and community.
- Participates with the governing body, administration, medical staff, and leaders in the organization's decision making structures and processes. Participates in strategic planning, policy formation, administration and decision making with particular reference to the role, functions, fiscal management and operations of the Service Departments.
- Seeks opportunities for the development of new hospital-wide department programs and services designed to meet the needs of the hospital needs, community and medical staff.
- Manages the operations of hospital departments working through subordinates including managers and staff. Establishes department performance goals and allocates resources accordingly including appropriate staffing levels. Insures departmental practices meet or exceed the standards established by federal, state, accreditation agency and other regulatory agencies.
- Responsible for developing with Human Resources recruitment and retention programs for staff.
- Responsible for input into the operating and capital budgets of assigned Departments.
POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:
Education:
- Prefer Masters degree in relevant field of business administration, hospital administration or health care management.
Experience:
- Minimum of 2 years experience in hospital patient care operations with responsibility for administrative supervision required.
- Minimum 1 year of compliance experience with regulatory bodies such as CDPH, CMS, etc. required.
- Minimum 1 year of experience in supply chain and vendor relations management, including contract negotiation, required.
