The Director of People and Culture is responsible for developing and leading all human resources function within USL Spokane. This role ensures a positive workplace culture, attracts and retains top talent, and aligns HR strategies with the organization's mission and values. The director oversees employee engagement, diversity and inclusion initiatives, compliance, talent management, and overall human resources functions for the organization. The Director of People and Culture must be fully committed to the mission and values of USL Spokane and must have the ability to build and support an infrastructure which embraces commitment to community, safety, inclusion, and optimal performance.

The Director of People and Culture must be able to work regular shifts during the week and be available for work on weekends during home games. This position requires flexible hours, extended days, and some evenings. This position must be located in Spokane and is an in-person role.

Key or Essential Functions

To perform this position successfully, an individual must be able to perform each of the duties listed below. The essential functions of the position include, but are not limited to the following:

Culture and Employee Experience:
Foster a high-performance, inclusive and values-driven culture within the club.
Develop and implement strategies that enhance employee engagement and well-being.
Lead diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) initiatives to create a welcoming and diverse workplace.
Promote team-building activities, internal communications, and cross departmental collaboration.

Talent Acquisition & Development
Oversee the recruitment, hiring and onboarding process to attract top talent for the entire organization.
Partner with leadership to identify key talent gaps and succession planning strategies.
Design and implement employee training and leadership development programs.
Work with managers to set performance goals and oversee the performance management system, including goal setting, performance reviews, and career development plans.

HR Operations and Compliance
Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and league regulations regarding employment laws.
Develop, update, and enforce HR policies, procedures, and employee handbooks and other policies and initiates.
Develop and implement HR strategies, policies, and programs that align with the company's mission and objectives.
Manage employee relations, conflict resolution, and disciplinary processes in alignment with organizational values.
Oversee benefits administration, safety and safety reporting, compensation structures, and support the payroll function.
Develop competitive compensation and benefits programs to attract and retain employees.
Oversee HR technology solutions to improve processes and employee experience.
Manage the entire HR lifecycle from hiring, onboarding, performance, to offboarding.
Mange the workers compensation program.

Leadership and Strategy
Act as a strategic partner to leadership, ensuring HR initiatives align with the organizations short- and long-term goals.
Provide guidance and support on organizational structure, change management, and workforce planning,
Utilize HR analytics to measure employee satisfaction, retention and overall team effectiveness. Provide monthly reporting to ownership on key HR metrics
Issue a regular HR update newsletter to all staff.

Operations Support
Work with soccer operations staff to support player wellness.

Secondary Functions:
The startup nature and growth of USL Spokane requires highly skilled employees who can operate in a fast paced and frequently changing environment. Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field.
Minimum of 6 years experience in Human Resources, preferable in a senior HR role.
HR certification, SPHR, PHR or equivalent.
A combination or accumulation of applicable work-related experience and/or education may be recognized as sufficiently meeting the requirements based upon educational programs and specific experience.
Ability to pass comprehensive background check including a motor vehicle report.
Ability to pass SafeSport training
Possess and maintain a current and valid driver's license and maintain legally required insurance.

USL Spokane values the whole individual and recognizes a wide range of qualifications, experience, and education can contribute to an individual's success in a role. A combination of qualifications will be considered.

Compensation and Benefits:
Exempt position with a range of $85,000 - $95,000
Eligible for annual discretionary bonus
Unlimited vacation policy and 10 days sick leave annually (prorated first year of employment)
Medical, dental, and vision insurance provided with a 75% employer contribution for employee premiums.
50% employer contribution for dependent/spouse medical, dental, and vision.
Employer paid employee life insurance and AD&D.
