Position Summary:
The Director of Planning is responsible for leading the creation of the strategic plan and facilitating the execution of approved initiatives to achieve the goals of the business. This role involves working closely with the executive team to identify expansion opportunities, optimize existing channels, and ensure that the company's growth strategies align with market trends and customer needs. This data-driven decision-maker will work cross-functionally to encourage and facilitate the innovation and collaboration needed to best serve our libraries, their patrons, and our employees.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
To perform this position successfully, the individual will:
Collaborate with senior leadership to define and refine the company's vision, business plan, and roadmap and lead the regular tracking, discussion, and coordination efforts to create and realize those plans and roadmaps. Work with internal and external resources to analyze market trends, customer behavior, and understand the competitive landscape to identify growth opportunities. Leverage data analytics and insights to inform planning decisions and measure the success of initiatives. Work across teams to define and champion key performance indicators (KPIs) throughout the business that help to assess the effectiveness of strategies. Use data to forecast trends and plan for future scenarios. Foster a culture of innovation by encouraging experimentation and the use of cutting-edge tools. Evaluate new channels, technologies, and partnerships that can enhance the company's growth. Oversee the planning, execution, and delivery of projects, ensuring they are completed on time and within budget. Coordinate cross-functional teams, including marketing, product development, IT, and sales, to ensure alignment on initiatives. Manage project timelines, resources, and risks to achieve optimal outcomes. Lead and mentor a team of analysts and planners. Foster a collaborative and high-performance work environment. Provide ongoing training and development opportunities to enhance the team's skills in planning and execution. Work closely with internal and external stakeholders to communicate the company's strategy. Present detailed reports and analyses to senior management on the progress and impact of initiatives.

Skills:
- Strong analysis skills and knowledge of related processes
- Strong understanding of marketing channels, e-commerce, SEO, PPC, social media, and content marketing.
- Budgeting & planning tools.
- Proficiency in data analytics tools (e.g., Google Analytics, Tableau) and digital marketing platforms (e.g., HubSpot, Marketo).
- Excellent project management and organizational skills.
- Strong leadership and team management abilities.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills.
- Ability to stay ahead of digital trends and continuously adapt strategies.
- Experience developing and delivering presentations to various audience levels within an organization.
Preferred Education Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in business, finance, marketing, strategy, or related field
- Master's degree or MBA with a focus on finance, marketing, and/or strategy
Preferred Experience:
- 7 - 10 years of experience in strategy, marketing, finance, or a related field
- 3-5 years of experience in a leadership role within a growth-oriented company
