Summary
The Plant Manager is primarily responsible for planning, organizing, directing, and running optimum day-to-day manufacturing operations for ETO (Engineer to Order) products within the woodworking industry.
This job requires strong analytical and technical abilities and demands fast but carefully thought-out results. Strong leadership and control of the work process from beginning to end are necessary. The job centers around developing new ideas, systems, and technology and analyzing and improving old ones. A high level of expertise is expected, and the ability to spot and correct errors are essential. Work must be done right and quickly while always focusing on accomplishing the goal and demanding the highest quality work from co-workers and subordinates. Interest and energy concentrate primarily on the work at hand, with little inclination for small talk or social involvement. The broad scope of the job demands an authentic, direct, and authoritative communication style. Decision-making, though swift, is very calculated and singular, with little reliance on consensus or collaborating opinions.

Job Duties & Responsibilities
- Increasing production, assets capacity, and flexibility while minimizing unnecessary costs and maintaining current quality standards
- Production output, product quality, and on-time shipping
- Allocate resources effectively and thoroughly utilize assets to produce optimal results
- Implement strategies in alignment with strategic initiatives and provide a clear sense of direction and focus
- Monitor operations and implement corrective actions
- Share a trusting relationship with the workgroup and recruit, manage, and develop plant staff
- Collect and analyze data to find places of waste or overtime
- Commit to plant safety procedures
- Develop systems and processes that track and optimize productivity and standards, metrics, and performance targets to ensure effective return on assets
- Address employees' issues or grievances
- Influence and learn from subordinates
- Stay up to date with the latest production management best practices and concepts
- Ability to create accountability and lead by example

- Ability to read and diagnose shop drawings to plan production resources

Education
- Four-year degree, or higher, from a technical school, college, or university is preferred
- Relevant experience can be considered equivalent to a degree
Experience
- Ten or more years of experience in manufacturing is required
- Proven managerial experience
- Adequate knowledge of business and management principles (budgeting, strategic planning, resource allocation, and human resources)
- Familiarity with industry-standard equipment and technical expertise
- Knowledgeable of safety, quality, productivity, and inventory processes
