Spirit of America seeks an experienced Director of Program Marketing who will play a vital leadership role in developing and executing strategic marketing initiatives and content to support major donor fundraising, grassroots marketing campaigns, and promote our international assistance programs. This individual will lead a team responsible for crafting compelling messaging, managing donor communication strategies, and working closely with fundraising teams to enhance donor engagement and increase contributions.
This individual will need to deeply understand the organization's stakeholder audiences, value proposition and its international programs to craft compelling messaging, manage communication strategies, and build the content, collateral and tools that engage our highest value donors as the primary audience. You will do this by collaborating closely with Spirit of America's fundraising team, including our CEO and Chief Development Officer, and our international programs teams, to enhance major donor education, engagement, loyalty, and contributions. The Director of Program Marketing will report to the Chief Marketing Officer. This is a full-time exempt position based in our Arlington, VA office.

Salary range $125,000 to $150,000 based on experience. Benefits include medical, dental, and vision insurance, and 403b contribution match to 4%.

Responsibilities:
- Leadership & Team Management: Build, lead, mentor, and manage a team of marketing professionals to develop and execute marketing plans, campaigns and content for donor audiences that achieve fundraising and brand goals. Responsible for the organization's value proposition, messaging, and marketing for major donors. This role also supports campaign and fundraising initiatives for building the grassroots supporter base.
- Program Marketing Strategy & Execution: Develop and oversee integrated marketing strategies, tactics and content for our top international programs that supports major donor fundraising as the primary focus, working in collaboration with the development and international programs teams.
- Content Development: Guide and create compelling marketing materials, such as donor impact reports, case studies, digital content, white papers, op-eds, and other tools for major donors to effectively communicate program successes and funding needs.
- Donor Engagement Communications: Oversee major donor communication plans, including email campaigns, newsletters, and personalized outreach materials for use by the development team.
- Grassroots Marketing Support: Develop marketing plans and create content across international programs to support the integrated marketing team that is focused on campaigns that acquire and engage broad grassroots audiences.
- Brand & Messaging Consistency: Ensure that all marketing and communication materials align with the organization's brand guidelines and mission.
- Performance Tracking & Reporting: Set and manage against marketing & development performance metrics, to analyze the impact of marketing content and programs, materials and engagement trends; create process and tools to get and act on donor feedback and insights.
- Event Marketing Support: Support content, programming and subject matter expertise needed for donor events and fundraisers.
Requirements & Skills:
- Bachelor's degree required with at least 10+ years of relevant professional experience in marketing and communications, or donor engagement, preferably within a non-profit, or international development organization. Relevant work experience may be considered in lieu of the degree requirements.
- 5+ years of experience in building and managing teams.
- Ability to understand and translate complex geo-political issues and international assistance programs into compelling donor materials.
- Strong writing and storytelling skills with experience in creating donor-centric content.
- Familiarity with CRM and donor database management tools (e.g., Salesforce).
- Strong project management skills and the ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
- Genuine connection to Spirit of America, our mission, support of American troops and diplomats, and defending the idea of America.
- Passion for international relations, humanitarian aid, or global philanthropy is a plus.
