Job Summary: The Director of Programs manages the overall direction of the Bernal Heights Neighborhood Center's programs, mentors and develops leaders, creates best practices and is responsible for ensuring high quality service delivery outcomes across all programs. The Director's primary role is to ensure that all programs effectively realize BHNC's vision of improving the social and economic outcomes of the community while ensuring equitable access to resources that support sustainability in San Francisco. This is accomplished through strength based programs to include: active senior programming, service connection at housing sites, food pantries, community engagement, employment services, and advocacy through a cultural humility lens. This is a full-time exempt position that reports to the Executive Director and works in close coordination with the management team.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Develop programmatic strategies, delivery and outcomes that align with the mission and vision of BHNC.
- Facilitate planning, development, implementation and leadership to program managers and analyze the effectiveness of programs.
- Create policies and procedures aligning program delivery with BHNC's mission and comply with the requirements of government contracts, grants and foundations.
- Oversee the effectiveness of all programs to include quarterly program development, program assessments
- Develop an equity approach to programming that considers cultural humility practices and uses models such as the social determinants of health to frame and track outcomes.
- Develop and implement department work plan reporting practices that best capture outcomes and areas of growth for programs and organizational goals.
- Provide strategic recommendations to grow and develop programs
- Establish and maintain positive working relationships with external agencies - public and nonprofit agencies and community groups including the DAAS, MOHCD, JCYC, and other City agencies.
- Collaborate with ED and the development team to assist with grant writing, reporting and auditing of programs
- Actively participate in and at times lead various related City-wide initiatives and coalitions.
- Provide management and leadership responsibilities for all program staff, budgets, contracts and daily operations.
- Monitor public and private grants and maintain positive and consistent communications with funders are provided on time and in a professional manner.
- Manage and track program budgets and collaborate with finance and the leadership team with program, billing
- Provide active leadership in BHNC's annual grassroots membership drive, annual and community events.
- Participate and prepare in program and fiscal monitoring
- Attend meetings as requested
- Other responsibilities as requested
KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS REQUIRED BY THE JOB:
- Program Implementation: Ability to interact and communicate well with other staff to provide a cohesive team approach. Minimum of three years of supervision experience of increasing responsibility. Enthusiasm for leadership development and community organizing in a mixed income, multi-racial, multi-ethnic community including two public housing developments. Commitment to racial equity, social action, social justice, delivery of quality services, and development of people into leaders. Minimum of five years formal management experience, including fund development, program operations and development, budget management and grant reporting. Experience developing and presenting formal and on-the-job training. Conflict resolution skills required. Ability to interact with persons of various social, cultural, economic, and educational backgrounds. Skills in negotiating, exchanging ideas, opinions, and information with others to formulate policies and programs. Skills and experience in developing effective relationships with the community and govt. leaders, funding sources.
- Communication: Excellent writing and oral communication skills. Ability to read, analyze, and interpret and teach general information, and to read and understand government grants and regulations. Ability to write monthly reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions and to differentiate areas within the scope of responsibility and identify areas needing additional support... Ability to present information and respond to questions from youth, seniors, work groups, managers, funders, and the general public. Ability to inspire, motivate and support staff and communicate daily with the Executive Director and the management team.
- Technology: Requires use of a computer on a daily basis. Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Gmail, Google Platform, Zoom, Slack and Internet required. Comfort using computers as tools for communication and outcomes tracking.
- Fingerprinting background check required
- Valid Driver's license required with two-year clean driving history
