OBJECTIVE:
Lead and direct the day-to-day activities for PAR, CRO, and Industry research projects.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS (other duties as assigned)
  • Research Facility Oversight including but not limited to scheduling, operations, and regulatory compliance
  • Contract and Applied Research Trial Execution including animal procurement, data collection, Data QA, Sponsor Liaison
  • Supervise direct reports: Research Site Supervisor, Data Manager, Project Leads
  • Research Trial Design
  • Plan and coordinate upcoming and future research projects maximizing barn usage and answering relevant questions from the Research Committee
  • Develop and maintain relationships with PAR research customers

MARGINAL FUNCTIONS
  • Possess a broad base of knowledge and skills requisite for applied research.
  • Keep abreast of industry developments and apply best practices to areas of improvement.
  • Capability of managing a large team.

  • Develop and implement standard operating procedures to ensure profitability and high-quality care for our clients.

  • Control resources and utilize assets to achieve qualitative and quantitative targets.

POSITION SPECIFICATIONS
Education:
Animal science degree preferred but not required

Experience:
5+ years' experience in swine research industry. Advanced degree in area of research preferred.

Work Environment:
Agricultural swine environment in rural area
Noise levels that require hearing protection in some areas
Modern wean-to-finish facilities

Physical Requirements:
Standing, walking and ability to be on feet 8 to 10 hours per day
Frequent bending, reaching, squatting and kneeling
Frequent use of one or both hands/arms to grasp or pull
Frequent lifting of objects weighing 3-20 pounds
Occasional bending while pulling and/or lifting objects weighing up to 50 pounds, or requiring up to 50 pounds of force to move
Occasional bending while pulling and/or lifting objects weighing up to 100 pounds or requiring up to 100 pounds of force to move with the assistance of another person as needed
Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing
Ability to attend and participate in meetings of various lengths

Additional Requirements:
Must live no longer than 30 minutes from farm being managed
Must be able to work every 3rd weekend
Must have valid driver's license and reliable transportation to get to work and attend meetings
