The Director, Sales will be responsible for leading and executing the sales strategy for the Canadian market within the travel and leisure industry. This role will provide strategic leadership, coaching, and mentorship to the sales team, including Sales Consultants, Business Development Manager - New Hotel Opening Program (NHOP), and Sales Support, ensuring alignment with business objectives, maximizing revenue, and driving sustainable profit growth. The Director will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to foster a high-performing sales culture, optimize market expansion strategies, and strengthen customer partnerships.

Role:

Role Responsibilities:
Sales Strategy and Market Growth
- Develops and executes sales strategies to increase market penetration and revenue growth in Canada, including sales objectives, plans and customer incentive programs.
- Continuously identifies and assesses emerging market opportunities and competitive threats, adapting strategies and refining pricing to maintain profitability and market leadership.
Team Leadership & Development
- Leads talent acquisition, onboarding, and development initiatives to position top talent in key territories and ensure long-term team success and sustainable territory growth.
- Provides strategic coaching, training, and continuous feedback to cultivate a high-performing sales team, elevate consultive selling capabilities, and drive business growth
- Fosters a culture of accountability, engagement, and continuous improvement through impactful sales meetings, performance goal setting, and change management.
Sales Performance & Accountability
- Manages sales performance, including service levels, accounts receivable, and scorecard results, and refines strategies to optimize sales execution.
- Develops clear performance metrics, reviews quarterly and annual sales objectives, and ensures alignment with business goals.
- Mentors and motivates the Sales team, recognizing top performers and addressing underperformance to ensure continuous improvement.
Customer & Relationship Management
- Manages and grows relationships with national brand customers and large management groups, ensuring strong partnerships and alignment with corporate objectives.
- Partners with Sales Consultants and Corporate Accounts to make joint calls on key selling opportunities to execute the overall sales plan.
- Negotiates new contracts with key local customers to strengthen partnerships and drive revenue.
- Supports a customer first mindset while executing daily tasks, ensuring client satisfaction and long-term loyalty.
Organizational Leadership & Culture
- Facilitates the establishment of clear performance goals; ensures that performance goals adapt to changing business demands; identifies and manages non-performers in a fair and timely way; identifies and rewards top performance; links pay and performance through base, incentive, and recognition programs.
- Presents oneself in a manner that demonstrates executive maturity, professionalism, trust, confidence, and integrity.
- Communicates broadly and frequently the company's vision, direction, goals, plan performance, changes, and expectations through participation in department meetings, one-on-one meetings, and informal conversations with colleagues.
- Complies with Sysco's Food Safety Policy and procedures to ensure food safety, quality and legality requirements are met.
- Understands both the economic and cultural value that a safe organization with minimal environmental impact brings to an organization.
- Is willing to drive Environmental, Health and Safety performance by providing necessary resources and holding their team accountable to complying with EHS programs, policies, and requirements.

Qualifications/Skills/Job Requirements (About you):
- 5+ years of sales management experience, preferably in the distribution industry.
- Minimum of ten (10) years of sales experience, business-to-business (B2B).
- Regional responsibility for Local Sales team.
- Advanced knowledge of core business processes (customer planning and management, sales and distribution, financial reporting, training, quality assurance).
- Bachelor's degree in sales, marketing or business administration or commensurate experience.
- Understanding of the most sophisticated and progressive sales approaches currently in use by B2B oriented companies that distribute via direct channels of distribution. Experience with large/national accounts is an asset.
- Excellent communication (written and verbal), interpersonal and professional interactive skills, as well as strong presentation, negotiation, closing and time management skills.
- Proficient in maintaining and leveraging customer databases and Customer Relationship Management (CRM) systems (e.g., Salesforce, HubSpot) to track sales performance, manage customer relationships, and drive strategic decisions.
- Ability to utilize sales and business analytical tools monitor trends, forecast performance, and support decision making to optimize sales strategy. Experience using PeopleSoft and Salesforce.com is an asset.
- Ability to speak French would is an asset.
- Excellent coaching, leadership, and team building skills; able to influence decision makers; highly effective inter-personal communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Proven track record in executing business objectives; actively drives performance, solves problems and barriers to execution, delivers projects through to on-time completion.
- Strategic thinking, excellent analytical skills, and possess extensive knowledge in structured approaches to problem solving, i.e. six sigma, continuous improvement.
- Adapts well to and initiates change in the organization.
- Skilled in the use of a variety of PC software, including all Microsoft products.
- Proficiency in fiscal financial planning, such as Annual Operating Plan (AOP) and monthly forecasting of all local business for the site.
- Valid driver's license in good standing with access to a vehicle is required. Some travel is required (approx. 25%).
- Must possess a valid passport for international travel, as needed.
