Position Summary: Ridgewood Public Schools is excited to announce an opening for an Director of School Counseling/Assistant Principal at Ridgewood High School for the 2024-2025 School Year. The selected candidate will be an integral and dynamic member of the high school administrative team, leading initiatives in school counseling, post-secondary planning, and overseeing the Ridgewood High School Course of Study.

As Director of School Counseling/Assistant Principal, you will take charge of directing, assisting, and supervising the high school counseling and curriculum programs, with a focus on student counseling and intervention and referal services. You will collaborate closely with instructional staff, school-level supervisors, and students to seamlessly implement and integrate standardized testing and comprehensive student counseling services.

Qualifications:
  • Expertise in navigating and mastering the complexities of the college admissions process, providing invaluable guidance to students and families.
  • Proven ability to coordinate comprehensive post-secondary planning and programming, guiding students and their families towards future success.
  • Proficient in utilizing student information systems and other electronic data systems for seamless information management.
  • Skilled in analyzing data and effectively communicating insights to diverse stakeholder groups.
  • Expert in developing a master schedule, managing student schedules, and overseeing comprehensive student educational programs.
  • Adept at overseeing all operations of a bustling school counseling office, ensuring smooth and efficient services.
  • Team-oriented and collaborative, excelling in managing and coordinating all high school activities with peers and stakeholders.
  • Proven expertise in recruiting, hiring, supervising, and evaluating staff, ensuring a top-tier educational team.
  • Skilled in planning and delivering impactful professional development for school counselors, fostering their growth and effectiveness.
  • In-depth knowledge of student records maintenance and dissemination, ensuring accuracy and confidentiality.
  • Holds or is eligible for New Jersey Director of School Counseling and/or Principal Certification
  • Any equivalent qualifications deemed suitable and acceptable by the Board.
Start Date: July 1, 2024

Working Conditions: 12 month, tenure track postion, salary as per negotiated contract with benefits.
