Description

Your Impact:

  • Develop and lead a high performing team of campus principals toward exceptional outcomes for students, families, and staff that includes:
    • Directly manage five Vista Principals
    • Support Principals in leading and executing the school's instructional program (curriculum and assessment), and coordinate additional network support from content leads as needed;
    • Support Principals in ensuring that every student shows dramatic achievement gains and that all schools meet the ambitious performance goals set by Vista College Prep;
    • Support administration of all standardized student assessments and evaluations, including state assessments, interim assessments, and nationally normed assessments;
    • Analyze and action plan around academic, operations and culture data including: student achievement data, observation and coaching data, and student behavior data
    • Provide guidance to Principals on effective management of campus Leadership Teams in order to realize strong outcomes for students and families while also maintaining strong staff satisfaction and retention;
    • Refine, create as needed, and execute professional development for Principals as well as campus and network leaders, using internal resources as well as external partnerships
    • Plan and conduct weekly 1:1 meetings, classroom observations, instructional rounds, Principal team meetings, etc.
    • Work with principals to set teacher professional development priorities for the year and break them down to 5-6 week cycles (aligned to data and school needs);
    • Develop and conduct highly effective mid- and end-of-year performance evaluations;
    • Work with Principals to ensure that they continue to implement rituals and practices that deepen parent engagement and investment while also creating/sustaining a welcoming school-culture for families;
  • Support network wide professional development of instructional staff as a member of the Network Support Team
    • Help design outstanding site-based and network-wide professional development, including differentiated Summer Professional Development for new and returning staff;
    • Develop annual professional development scope and sequence for principals and with principals build annual professional development calendar for school leadership teams
    • Lead Principal professional development and collaborate with other network staff on leadership development across the network
  • Support hiring process for school-based leadership roles, including
    • Collaborate with the Talent Team to refine and develop systems necessary to successfully support Principals throughout the full recruitment cycle
    • Guide hiring decisions for school-based leadership roles with the goal of building strong, balanced teams across the network
  • Collaborate with the Network Support Team to ensure that schools are receiving necessary instructional supports and that priorities are being fully executed on each campus
    • Build a strong organizational culture that is aligned with Vista's Guiding Principles and ensures that all schools are successful
    • Develop a palpably positive and inclusive school climate across the network
    • Problem-solve solutions to challenges common to all schools in network
    • Support the execution of Vista's strategic plan and ensure key targets are met, facilitating additional professional development (i.e. sessions, 1:1s, experiences, etc) when necessary

Qualifications

  • Passionate commitment to the mission of Vista College Prep;
  • Minimum of three years a principal in a high-performing urban public school setting strongly preferred;
  • Track record of producing dramatic, demonstrable student achievement gains or comparable results in current field;
  • Exceptional capacity for managing people and leaders of teams, and building strong organizational and team cultures
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to present and facilitate adult learning effectively
  • Excellent strategic, analytical, and critical thinking skills and careful attention to detail and follow-through;
  • Strong change management skills, and the ability to influence and facilitate decision-making among multiple, diverse parties
  • Demonstrated ability to be proactive and take initiative
  • Spanish proficiency or fluency beneficial, but not required;
  • Valid IVP fingerprint clearance card.
