The Director of Security will be responsible for directing, coordinating and overseeing all activities of the onsite Security staff, including all supervisory, training and operations functions at the assigned post in accordance with post orders and client instructions, and following all internal procedures. We seek leaders that inspire the best from their employees and have the ability and desire to mentor, train, formalize and implement the mission, vision, and values of Billings Clinic. Ensures the delivery of quality, cost-effective services in line with the Billings Clinic mission, vision, values, and goals. Accountabilities include: Assesses environment for safety and security concerns. Coordinates all aspects of executing the security contract at the assigned location(s). Supervising, motivating, coaching and training employees. Conducting interviews make recommendations for placement of security professionals and execute site-specific orientations. Point of contact for security staff regarding performance, operations, emergency response activities and department needs. Manages Billings Clinic Parking Program. May be responsible for scheduling and payroll coordination at assigned site based on the size and post requirements, including pay and invoice reconciliation.

Essential Job Functions
Direct all security operations across Billings Clinicfacilities, ensuring a safe and secure environment for patients, staff, andvisitors. Set expectations and lead by example, fostering a culture of safety,compliance, and accountability.
Develop and implement strategic security plans aligned with Billings Clinic'smission, vision, and long-term goals. Anticipate and mitigate potentialsecurity risks through proactive policy development and enforcement.
Lead recruitment, training, and continuous development of security personnel.Ensure staff are well-equipped to handle day-to-day operations, emergencysituations, and customer service, while providing regular feedback andevaluations to foster growth.
Manage the day-to-day logistics of security operations, including staffing,scheduling, and coordination of resources. Oversee the Parking Program andensure smooth functioning of all assigned security tasks, including compliancewith post orders and client instructions.
Lead the planning and execution of security responses during emergencies ordisasters, coordinating with internal departments and external agencies.Conduct regular drills and ensure all security personnel are fully trained oncrisis protocols.
Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local regulations, includingOSHA, DNV, HIPAA, and other healthcare-specific standards. Maintaindocumentation and ensure readiness for audits and regulatory reviews.
Develop and manage the security department's annual budget, ensuringcost-effective allocation of resources. Oversee payroll, invoicing, andreconciliation processes to maintain financial integrity.
Continuously assess security protocols and operations for efficiency andeffectiveness. Lead process improvement projects that leverage data andtechnology to enhance security services, streamline workflows, and reduceoperational costs.
Work closely with other hospital departments, clinical teams, and executiveleadership to align security services with organizational goals. Provide expertconsultation on security-related concerns and participate in cross-functionalinitiatives.
Ensure security staff provide exemplary customer service, balancing securityneeds with patient and staff rights. Address and resolve conflicts or securityissues promptly and professionally, maintaining a calm and solutions-focusedapproach.
Oversee the evaluation, selection, and integration of security technologiessuch as surveillance systems, access control, and communication tools. Ensuresystems are aligned with the operational and safety needs of Billings Clinic.
Conduct regular security audits and risk assessments to identifyvulnerabilities and implement corrective actions. Collaborate with riskmanagement teams to develop preventive measures and safeguard patient and staffwell-being.
Track, analyze, and report on key performance indicators (KPIs) related tosecurity operations, safety incidents, and compliance. Present findings toleadership and recommend data-driven improvements to enhance security outcomes.
Foster a collaborative and inclusive environment within the security team.Promote open communication, teamwork, and a shared commitment to BillingsClinic's safety and security objectives. Provide clear direction and feedbackto staff.
Supports and models behaviors consistent with BillingsClinic's mission, vision, values, code of business conduct and serviceexpectations. Meets all mandatory organizational and departmental requirements.Maintains competency in all organizational, departmental and outside agencystandards as it relates to the environment, employee, patient safety or jobperformance.
Performs all other duties as assigned or as needed tomeet the needs of the department/organization.

Minimum Qualifications
Education
Minimum Bachelor's degree in Criminal justice or relevant to service area.
Master's degree, preferred.

Experience
6-8 years of security services management experience and/or training, preferred in a large, multi-campus healthcare system.
Prior experience in hospital security industry, law enforcement and/or military preferred.

Certifications and Licenses
Ability to obtain a Basic Private Security Permit through the State of Montana within six (6) months of hire
Current Montana driver's license and the ability to be insured to operate Billings Clinic vehicles

Or an equivalent combination of education and experience relating to the above tasks, knowledge, skills and abilities will be considered. Employees that require a licensed or certification must be properly licensed/certified and the licensure/certification must be in good standing.
