II. SUMMARY OF POSITION'S PURPOSE
Plans, organizes, coordinates, and supervises the administration of programs designed to identify, alleviate, ameliorate, or eliminate undesirable influences which adversely affect a student's participation in the educational process and satisfactory school adjustment.
III. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION - Master's degree. Type A Louisiana teaching certificate. Certification as Principal, Supervisor of Instruction, or Supervisor of Special Education. Generic certification in Special Education and/or certification in two (2) areas of exceptionality. EXPERIENCE - Five years of successful professional school experience, three years of which must have been within the last five years.

Domain I: School Vision
- Sets ambitious, data-driven goals.
- Sets a vision for achievement.
- Invests teachers, students and other stakeholders in that vision.
- Collects data and prepares reports required reports; maintains records as required.
- Develops and implements innovative programs which reflect the educational goals of the Ascension Parish School System.
- Keeps informed of latest research trends, reports and developments in areas of responsibility.
- Provides courteous and prompt service to all internal and external customers including students, parents, co-workers, etc.
- Schedules and/or attends conferences with parents.
- Prioritizes and addresses requests and assignments in a professional manner to develop cooperative relationships and to ensure that student and employee confidentiality is assured.
Domain II: School Culture
- Participates in PLC's at school and district level.
- Provides needed assistance to administrative teams and schools.
- Provides opportunities for professional growth.
- Develops a pipeline of teacher leaders.
- Orients co-workers and actively supports teamwork throughout the school system.
- Assists co-workers in the completions of tasks and assignments to ensure continuity of service.
- Initiates and maintains open line(s) of communication and facilitates relationships with parents of students with disabilities.
Domain III: Instruction
- Supervises programs and services to meet needs of students with disabilities.
- Observes classroom teachers and offers recommendations for improvement.
- Works with school officials and facilitates the Intensive Assistance Process at the school level.
- Facilitates and participates in continuous curriculum development and improvement.
- Assists in the determination and recommendations of types of programs and planning required at each level of instruction.
- Coordinates and assists in the selection of instructional materials.
- Confers with staff members and departments in providing available information for development, implementation, and evaluation of effective research based programs.
- Develops and implements innovative programs which reflect the educational goals of Ascension Parish School System.
- Prepares reports needed by local, state, or federal education agencies.
Domain IV: Professional Responsibilities
- Works cooperatively with faculties and staff at all levels.
- Assists co-workers in the completion of tasks and assignments to ensure continuity of service.
- Orients new co-workers and actively supports teamwork throughout the school system.
- Attends appropriate district level meetings.
- Plans, develops and conducts professional development to support Special Education compliance, initiatives, and personnel.
- Attends national, state, and local meeting to keep abreast of new trends and innovative ideas, techniques, or programs proven effective.
- Participates in the work of state and national study groups as opportunities arise.
- Develops and coordinates budgetary activities of programs assigned.
- Identifies opportunities and recommends methods to improve service, work processes and financial performance, e.g. expense management.
- Assists in the implementation of quality improvement initiatives.
- Supervisors and Directors shall be expected to perform the following duties, along with the completion of corresponding documents, forms, and reports:
- Instructional Components
- Fulfill duties traditionally expected of those in supervisory positions
- Collaborate with those providing and overseeing school-based instruction as well as professionals providing ancillary services
- Review, draft, study, recommend, and implement policies, curriculum, and plans to improve the quality of instruction
- Conduct school/class walk throughs
- Supervision
- Supervision of Principals, Assistant Principals, and others reporting to employee for whose supervision employee is responsible
- Complete and/or assist in the preparation/implementation of employee observations, evaluations, IAPs, and other associated tasks and monitoring
- Non-instructional Components
- Attend meetings generally associated with the instruction of students
- Attend faculty, staff, and department meetings
- Attend training sessions
- Attend job fairs and related events
- Attend IEP meetings
- Attend Central Office and Department meetings
- Attend back-to-school and open-house events
- Attend graduation
- Interview, employ, and complete necessary hires
- Attend PIP, Evaluation, Observation, IAP, and student discipline meetings/hearings
- Attend school board/committee meetings, upon request
- Participate in the preparation of necessary disciplinary documents and corresponding disciplinary process
- Performs such duties or responsibilities as may, from time to time, be assigned by the Superintendent of Schools.
