Job Summary
The Director of Structural Concrete Operations is responsible for leading and managing all aspects of concrete, civil, and site operations, ensuring efficient project execution, quality control, safety compliance, and workforce development. This role requires strong leadership, engineering expertise, and the ability to optimize production schedules, budgets, and vendor relationships while mentoring teams and maintaining high standards in concrete construction.
Key Responsibilities
Operational Leadership & Project Management
- Oversee the Site/Civil & Foundation and Vertical Concrete Shaft departments, ensuring compliance with project plans, industry standards, and safety regulations.
- Develop and manage production schedules, workforce planning, and resource allocation to optimize efficiency and productivity.
- Lead all concrete operations, including quality control, logistics, and constructability coordination with the Engineering Department.
- Drive operational strategies to enhance efficiency, profitability, and compliance with regulatory changes.
- Participate in weekly scheduling meetings with Operations and monthly project reviews with Finance.
Quality Assurance & Compliance
- Establish and enforce quality control procedures to ensure compliance with geotechnical reports, project specifications, and industry standards.
- Conduct regular inspections, audits, and troubleshooting for concrete, piping, and sitework-related challenges.
- Stay up to date on emerging construction technologies and regulatory changes impacting materials and processes.
Safety & Risk Management
- Promote a culture of safety, ensuring all operations adhere to OSHA standards and company safety policies.
- Develop and implement safety training programs, conducting regular drills and compliance checks.
Team Leadership & Training
- Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing team of managers, supervisors, and field personnel.
- Conduct performance reviews, workforce planning, and ongoing training programs for civil and concrete personnel.
- Foster a collaborative work environment while driving operational excellence.
Vendor & Financial Management
- Establish and maintain relationships with key vendors, negotiate pricing, and optimize supply chain processes.
- Manage the budgeting, purchasing, and maintenance of department equipment.
- Oversee financial forecasting and cost-saving initiatives to improve project profitability.
Client Relations & Continuous Improvement
- Represent Phoenix Fabricators and Erectors, LLC in client meetings and project discussions.
- Ensure high levels of customer satisfaction by addressing project inquiries and resolving issues promptly.
- Identify process improvement opportunities using Lean methodologies and data-driven decision-making.
Availability & Problem-Solving
- Be available year-round to manage operational challenges, respond to internal and external inquiries, and ensure seamless project execution.
Supervisory Duties
- Directly manage Site/Civil and Foundation Operations Manager and Structural Concrete Operations Manager, overseeing their teams and ensuring alignment with company goals.
- Assign, plan, and delegate work responsibilities while monitoring performance and enforcing quality standards.
- Conduct performance evaluations, training initiatives, and succession planning to develop a strong leadership pipeline.
- Ensure compliance with company policies, industry regulations, and employment laws.

Position Requirements
Qualifications & Skills
Required:
- Bachelor's degree in Civil/Structural Engineering, Construction Management, or related field.
- Professional Engineering (PE) License.
- 7+ years of experience in the concrete industry, with 2+ years in a senior leadership role.
- Expertise in vertical concrete construction, large-scale operations management, and workforce development.
- Strong leadership and team-building experience, with a focus on performance management and employee development.
Preferred (Nice to Have):
- Experience with Lean construction methodologies.
- Familiarity with geotechnical reports and site-specific design requirements.
- Strong financial management skills, including budgeting, cost control, and vendor negotiations.
