POSITION OVERVIEW
The College of Marin is seeking a visionary, student-focused leader to serve as the Director of Student Accessibility Services. This key leadership position will provide strategic oversight and direction to ensure that students with temporary or permanent disabilities-including learning differences, cognitive challenges, and mobility-related conditions-have equitable access to the full academic, social, and co-curricular experience at the College. The ideal candidate will champion inclusion, foster a culture of support, and advocate for the success of all students.
Under general direction, plans, manages, directs and participates in the work of the Student Accessibility Services Department in collaboration with other departments, plans, implements and evaluates student accessibility, mental health services, educational assistance classes, and District compliance with all laws and regulations pertaining to students with disabilities; and performs related duties as assigned.

A Director of Student Services - Student Accessibility Services is distinguished from the director of other programs in that an incumbent in the former class exclusively directs the Student Accessibility Services (SAS) department, whereas the latter class directs a Student Learning and Success division with multiple departments in addition to SAS.

A.) Educational Administrator:
1.) Possession of a master's degree in a category of disability, special education, education, psychology, educational psychology or rehabilitation counseling; and
2.) One year of formal training, internship or leadership experience reasonably related to the administrator's administrative assignment; or possession of a California Community College Supervisor Credential; or the equivalent.
B.) DSPS (SAS) Instructor:
1.) A Master's degree in the category of disability, special education, education, psychology, educational psychology or rehabilitation counseling; and
2.) Fifteen semester units of upper division or graduate study in the area of disability, to include, but not be limited to: learning disabilities, developmental disabilities; Deaf and Hearing Impaired; physical disabilities; or adapted computer technology.
C.) DSPS (SAS) Counselor:
1.) A Master's degree in Rehabilitation Counseling; or
2.) A Master's degree in: Counseling; Guidance Counseling; Student Personnel; Clinical or Counseling Psychology; Education Counseling; Social Work; Career Development; Marriage and Family Therapy; or Marriage, Family and Child Counseling; OR a Bachelor's degree in Marriage and Family Therapy or in Marriage, Family and Child Counseling AND a license as a Marriage and Family Therapist (MFT);
and (combined with #2 above)
1.) Counseling for students with disabilities; or

CLASSIFICATION CATEGORY & RETIREMENT PLAN
The Director of Student Services - Student Accessibility Services (SAS) is an educational administrative position, in compliance with all applicable sections of the California Education Code. Educational administrators also participate in the California State Teachers' Retirement System (CalSTRS) through District and employee contributions. Educational administrative employees are employed subject to the terms and conditions set forth in the individual's employment agreement with the District.
SALARY INFORMATION
FLSA Status: Exempt
Salary Grade: Management Level 4
Full Salary Range: $142,536 - $180,744 annually. (As of 7/1/2025, full salary range will increase to $147,624 - $187,824 annually.)
Starting Salary Range: $142,536 - $152,556 annually (Step 1 to Step 3). Background and experience will determine placement. Step 3 is the maximum entering step. (As of 7/1/2025, starting salary range will increase to $147,624 - $158,136 annually.)

EDUCATIONAL ADMINISTRATIVE
Employees in this position classification are considered Educational Administrators. College of Marin offers a comprehensive benefit plan to its Educational Administrators, including: medical, dental, vision, life insurance, business/travel accident insurance, short- and long-term disability insurance, Flexible Spending Accounts (FSAs), pet insurance and an Employee Assistance Program (EAP). Educational Administrators are also members of the California State Teachers' Retirement System (CalSTRS), to which the member contributes 10.205% - 10.25%* of their reportable compensation on a monthly basis. Educational Administrators are also eligible to participate in a voluntary, tax-advantaged 403(b) or 457(b) retirement savings plan. *Depending on original date of membership and prior membership status.
Sick and Vacation Leave for Educational Administrators accrue on a rate of 12 days and 22 days per year, respectively. The District also offers 10 paid holidays annually, in addition to a paid winter holiday break at the end of December.
Part-time Employees: Employees working less than 100% of the full-time equivalent (FTE) are eligible to participate in the College's health plans; healthcare premiums are pro-rated respectively. All part-time Educational Administrative employees, regardless of FTE, participate in the CalSTRS retirement plan. All employees working less than 12 months per year and/or less than full-time shall receive pro-rated vacation, sick leave, and holiday accruals.

- Plans, organizes, directs, controls, integrates and evaluates the work of the Student Accessibility Services department; with Deans and other managers, faculty and staff, develops, implements and monitors long-term plans, goals and objectives focused on achieving the District's mission and priorities; manages and directs the development, implementation and evaluation of the plans, policies, systems and procedures for Student Accessibility Services programs and services to achieve the department's annual goals, objectives and work standards.
- Plans, directs and coordinates a variety of programs and services designed to meet the needs of students with various temporary and permanent learning difficulties, and/or cognitive and mobility conditions according to Americans With Disabilities Act (ADA) requirements; ensures the District provides equal access to programs and activities within the college setting including access to counseling, instruction, academic support, testing accommodations, assistive technology and alternate media, and interpreting and captioning services.
- Ensures student access to accessibility services, psychological services and adapted PE program including alternate media access, mental health counseling services and adapted instructional classes; ensures the District adheres to federal and state laws and regulations pertaining to student support at a higher education institution and Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) compliance; directs trainings related to universal design, mental health and trauma-informed practices.
- Participates in the development of and monitors performance against the department's annual budget; administers department budgets, including grants and other outside funding; develops financial projections and statistical reports as required; approves purchase requests for supplies and equipment; monitors revenue and fee collection; ensures the department's cash handling, grant funding and partnership-related fiscal matters are handled in accordance with District policies and regulations as well as appropriate state and federal laws and regulations.
- Oversees the selection and management of department faculty and staff; establishes performance requirements, monitors performance and provides coaching for performance improvement; may participate in grievance hearings and take disciplinary action, up to and including termination, in accordance with District human resources policies and labor contract agreements.
- Manages and monitors work distribution within the department, oversees and assesses internal reporting relationships; identifies opportunities for process improvement, directs change management; responds to staff concerns and needs.
- Collaborates with deans, department chairs, other faculty and staff to develop class schedules and student learning support programs, pursuant to proper course articulation policies and standards, student diversity, student needs and program requirements including building, fostering, and advancing student-centered programs, services, events, outreach and activities that are integrated with division goals and objectives.
- Monitors and assists with developing curriculum and implementing classroom instruction in response to student needs; with assistance from faculty instructor and program staff, adjusts services and instructional delivery support to meet provisions of student accommodations; ensures student and faculty concerns around implementation of accommodation plan are appropriately addressed.
- Participates with deans and other management staff in participatory governance consultations and collaborates with the Academic Senate and other faculty groups on a variety of institutional issues; provides guidance to, receives and presents recommendations from Academic Senate and other representative organizations, as applicable, regarding the planning, implementation and review of academic and SAS programs, services, activities and related matters.
- Interprets and implements federal and state laws and regulations pertaining to student support at a higher education institution; coordinates with and supports faculty and staff on the development and execution of programs, services and instruction to ensure equal access to education; directs trainings related to universal design, mental health and trauma-informed practices; advises and guides departments on ADA compliance.
- In collaboration with other student support departments, oversees or provides direct counseling to students regarding academic and accessibility concerns; identifies and responds to students in distress or experiencing trauma, and students who may pose a threat to themselves or others; assists students, families and staff with access to District and community resource networks; tracks and analyzes intervention outcomes to ensure adherence to District policies and procedures as well as identify preventative activities and services to address population level issues and trends affecting student success.
- Establishes and maintains effective community relationships through outreach, partnerships, and community engagement events; coordinates District efforts to develop a resource network and to promote, implement and evaluate programs to assist students with access to disability services, and mental health and crisis support; maintains advanced knowledge of requirements, restrictions and policies for all assigned programs.
- Oversees and participates in reviewing equity and student learning outcomes and assessments; produces and organizes program planning documents and student learning outcomes data; conducts program reviews and studies, recommends modifications to programs, policies and procedures, and implements changes; fosters quality instruction and optional functioning of programs; develops and updates reports and data-tracking success measures for curriculum, courses and programs for departments.
- Makes presentations to the Board of Trustees, Executive Leadership, and other groups; represents the District and presents at community meetings and events and at local, regional, state and national conferences, meetings, workshops and training seminars.
- Fosters an environment that embraces equity-minded practices, integrity, trust and respect; supports, implements and promotes compliance with the College's Diversity and Equal Employment Opportunity Plan in all aspects of employment and education; increases cultural and ethnic diversity in staffing, programs and services.

CLASSIFICATION CATEGORY & RETIREMENT PLAN
The Director of Student Services - Student Accessibility Services (SAS) is an educational administrative position, in compliance with all applicable sections of the California Education Code. Educational administrators also participate in the California State Teachers' Retirement System (CalSTRS) through District and employee contributions. Educational administrative employees are employed subject to the terms and conditions set forth in the individual's employment agreement with the District.
SALARY INFORMATION
FLSA Status: Exempt
Salary Grade: Management Level 4
Full Salary Range: $142,536 - $180,744 annually. (As of 7/1/2025, full salary range will increase to $147,624 - $187,824 annually.)
Starting Salary Range: $142,536 - $152,556 annually (Step 1 to Step 3). Background and experience will determine placement. Step 3 is the maximum entering step. (As of 7/1/2025, starting salary range will increase to $147,624 - $158,136 annually.)

EDUCATIONAL ADMINISTRATIVE
Employees in this position classification are considered Educational Administrators. College of Marin offers a comprehensive benefit plan to its Educational Administrators, including: medical, dental, vision, life insurance, business/travel accident insurance, short- and long-term disability insurance, Flexible Spending Accounts (FSAs), pet insurance and an Employee Assistance Program (EAP). Educational Administrators are also members of the California State Teachers' Retirement System (CalSTRS), to which the member contributes 10.205% - 10.25%* of their reportable compensation on a monthly basis. Part-time Employees: Employees working less than 100% of the full-time equivalent (FTE) are eligible to participate in the College's health plans; healthcare premiums are pro-rated respectively. All part-time Educational Administrative employees, regardless of FTE, participate in the CalSTRS retirement plan. All employees working less than 12 months per year and/or less than full-time shall receive pro-rated vacation, sick leave, and holiday accruals.
