Job purpose
Under the direction of the General Manager, the incumbent is responsible for the overall operation of the Surveillance Department, to meet all gaming regulations and protect company assets.

Duties and responsibilities
- Exhibit conduct in accordance with all Illinois Gaming Board (IGB) Rules and Regulations, Federal and State laws and regulations, and Company and departmental policies and procedures.
- Perform the duties and responsibilities associated with the IGB Statewide Voluntary Self-Exclusion Program as described in Section A of this ICS.
- Consistently deliver positive, courteous, and professional guest service in all interactions with guests, visitors, vendors, and fellow employees.
- Recruit, select, train, coach, counsel, recognize and retain direct reports who consistently perform actions and behaviors that reinforce excellence in business operations and guest service.
- Review staffing levels to maintain budgeted levels of employment.
- Delegate authority and assign responsibilities.
- Implement procedures for protecting casino assets and internal controls to ensure the safety and security of the employees and customers.
- Responsible for designing and installing CCTV and alarm system.
- Review surveillance with the General Manager.
- Meet with departmental directors and managers as necessary.
- Demonstrate a commitment to ensuring responsible gaming and responsible alcohol service by discreetly notifying appropriate management of concerns and observations.
- Work flexible schedule to accommodate the needs of the operation.
- Conduct regular security post inspections.
- Research, evaluate and test latest technology in surveillance in order to develop most appropriate system to achieve security, effectiveness, and cost-efficiency objectives.
- Partner with property departments to design and conduct highly sensitive investigations to facilitate fact-finding probe into potentially illegal or inappropriate activities.
- Communicate and develop business relations with State and Local Regulators in order to stay abreast of regulations and practices.
- Make recommendations in the development of gaming procedures to ensure that management takes into consideration the enforceability of such procedures from a surveillance perspective.
- Responsible for overall department budgets, profit and loss statements, cost analysis, labor analysis, planning and promotions.
- Achieve desired results in all areas of responsibility through staff development and training programs, established methods, procedures, and guidelines to maintain desired standards, and high-quality service. Then, monitor results through inspection, evaluation, and analysis. Make changes if necessary to achieve end result.
- Ensure procedures protect the integrity and security of the company, employees, and guests.
- Maintain excellent communication skills and interpersonal relations with guests, vendors, visitors, and Golden Nugget staff.
- Display professional conduct, sound judgment, the highest level of professional integrity and a strong work ethic.
- Stay abreast of current trends and practices within area of responsibility and communicate pertinent information to management, peers, direct reports, and employees as appropriate.
- Promote positive public/employee relations at all times.
- Maintain a clean, safe, hazard-free work environment within area of responsibility.
- Safeguard the confidential information of all employees, department, and company records.
- Demonstrate a commitment to ensuring responsible gaming and responsible alcohol service by discreetly notifying appropriate management of concerns and observations.
- Ensure prompt and discrete notification to senior management and/or the Ethics Hotline of any observation of illegal acts and/or internal ethics violations.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent required.
- Bachelor's Degree in a related field or equivalent combination of education and experience is required.
- Seven (7) or more years in Security or Surveillance in a high-volume casino/hotel environment is required.
- Ability to obtain a gaming license.
- Must have solid decision-making, organization, and interpersonal skills.
- Excellent verbal communication skills are required.
- The ability to thrive in a fast-paced multi-tasking, hands-on environment.
- Ability to establish and maintain a positive and professional working relationships with all individuals.
- Must have basic skills in Microsoft Office including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
- Ability to work occasional overtime and irregular hours.
