About the Role

The Director of PA Professional Practice plays a strategic leadership role in advancing and strengthening the professional practice of PAs. This position leverages deep expertise in PA practice, healthcare leadership, and healthcare systems to assess industry trends, champion PA integration across healthcare settings, and drive initiatives that eliminate barriers to practice. As a subject matter expert, the Director develops and implements strategies to enhance PA professional growth, leadership opportunities, and recognition within the broader healthcare landscape.

Key Responsibilities
  • Serve as the organization's expert on PA practice issues, including credentialing, privileging, accreditation, compliance, reimbursement, PA leadership, and healthcare innovation.
  • Lead the development and management of resources supporting PAs in healthcare administration, including educational materials and professional competencies.
  • Create and implement strategies to strengthen employer advocacy, demonstrating the value of PAs to employers, health systems, and key stakeholders.
  • Collaborate across AAPA departments to support research, publications, and continuing education initiatives related to PA practice.
  • Oversee the development and updates of advocacy resources, including the Guide to PA Regulations, Compliance, and Professional Practice.
  • Cultivate relationships with healthcare organizations, industry leaders, and policymakers to promote the essential role of PAs in healthcare.
  • Drive innovation within the PA profession and advocate for the adoption of emerging healthcare trends.
  • Explore international advocacy opportunities to expand the impact and recognition of PAs globally.
  • Represent the PA profession at conferences, meetings, and events, delivering presentations on PA practice, productivity, reimbursement, and policy.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

What You Bring
  • Education: Bachelor's degree required; master's degree preferred.
  • Licensure: PA licensure strongly preferred.
  • Experience: Minimum of 10 years of professional experience, preferably in PA practice, healthcare administration, or policy.
  • Skills & Expertise:
    • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
    • Proven ability to present complex health policy topics to diverse audiences.
    • Strong strategic thinking and problem-solving skills.
    • Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with cross-functional teams.
    • Deep understanding of the healthcare regulatory landscape.
    • Ability to travel and work outside regular business hours as needed.
