Overview
The Senior Packaging Engineer will lead the development and optimization of packaging solutions for our beauty and skincare products. This role ensures packaging integrity, sustainability, and alignment with brand aesthetics. The ideal candidate possesses a deep understanding of packaging materials, design, and manufacturing processes specific to the cosmetics industry.
What You'll Do
- Packaging Development: Collaborate with cross-functional teams-including Brand, Creative, Quality, R&D, and Operations-to design and select packaging that meets brand standards, ensures product stability, and aligns with cost and production timelines
- Specification Management: Create and maintain detailed packaging specifications, including materials, dimensions, and performance criteria. Oversee label artwork, pack-out instructions, case pack configurations, and shipping plans.
- Innovation and Sustainability: Lead initiatives to identify and implement packaging improvements that enhance efficacy, market appeal, and sustainability. Stay updated on industry trends to drive innovative packaging solutions.
- Testing and Quality Assurance: Conduct packaging tests partnering with external labs to evaluate durability, safety, and performance under various conditions. Collaborate with Quality Assurance to address any packaging-related issues and implement corrective actions.
- Project Management: Manage packaging requirements for manufacturers, including documentation and oversight of packaging line trials during development and commercial stages.
What We Are Looking For
- Bachelor's degree in Packaging Technology/Science, Engineering, or a related field
- Minimum of 5 years in packaging engineering within the cosmetics or personal care industry. Experience with skincare products is highly preferred.
- Proficiency with packaging design software (e.g. 3D CAD), material science, sustainability practices, and general statistical software. Familiarity with packaging lab equipment and testing protocols.
- Strong analytical abilities, excellent communication skills, and a proactive approach to problem-solving. Ability to manage multiple projects and collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
