Position Overview: We are seeking a highly skilled Director of Platform Engineering to lead our platform engineering initiatives with a strong focus on AWS and Kubernetes. This role requires deep experience with Lean Development, Extreme Programming (XP), and highly scalable delivery systems and cluster computing. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of driving engineering enablement and managing large-scale platform initiatives. This senior leadership position is responsible for overseeing the design, implementation, and management of our platform engineering efforts, ensuring they align with business objectives and drive innovation.
Key Responsibilities:

• Define and execute the company's platform engineering strategy in alignment with business goals.
• Oversee the design, implementation, and management of platform engineering initiatives to ensure scalability, security, and reliability.
• Partner with IT, product development, and business units to identify platform needs and opportunities.
• Lead initiatives to improve platform engineering efficiency, including cost management and resource optimization.
• Build, mentor, and lead a high-performing team of platform engineers and architects.
• Foster a culture of innovation and continuous improvement within the platform engineering team.
• Communicate platform engineering strategy and initiatives to executive leadership and stakeholders.
• Present insights and recommendations to drive platform-based decision-making.
• Partner with the Engineering Enablement team and SRE teams.
• Lead with a customer-focused Platform as a Product approach.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
• 10+ years of experience in platform engineering, with 5+ years in a leadership role.
• Strong knowledge of AWS, Kubernetes, and cloud security practices.
• Proven track record of driving platform-based business transformations and managing large-scale platform ecosystems.
• Experience with Lean Development and Extreme Programming (XP).
• Experience with highly scalable delivery systems and cluster computing.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a focus on data-driven decision-making.
• Excellent communication skills, with the ability to convey complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Strong leadership and interpersonal skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate a diverse team.
• Ideal candidates have published sentinel works across the industry and had direct involvement in open source or high-performance real-world delivery platforms.
