Full Time Exempt: $125,000 - $141,000 (based on experience)

Role Overview:
We are seeking a seasoned Public Relations Director to lead and protect the voice, reputation, and credibility of our brand, reporting directly to the CEO. You will be the frontline communicator and strategist managing our public image across traditional media, social platforms, and influencer partnerships-while navigating the complex intersections of competitive market narratives, regulatory standards, and rapid-response communications.
This role requires a confident storyteller and crisis manager, fluent in wellness trends, familiar with the supplement industry's regulatory guardrails (FDA/FTC), and unafraid to handle both admiration and antagonism with equal strategic grace.

Key Responsibilities:
Strategic Communications & Brand Voice
- Develop and lead the company's PR strategy across digital, print, audio, and live platforms.
- Maintain a consistent, credible brand voice across all media, balancing science, storytelling, and emotion.
- Draft and review press releases, official statements, talking points, and media kits.
- Monitor public sentiment, media narratives, and competitor claims to identify risks and opportunities.
- Act as lead crisis communication officer in managing backlash, misinformation, and sensitive claims regarding ingredients, purity, or practices.
- Collaborate with legal/regulatory teams to ensure all public-facing materials comply with FDA, FTC, and industry standards.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with influencers, health experts, and podcast hosts.
- Manage messaging alignment for sponsored guests, brand ambassadors, and guest appearances with founders and executives.
- Serve as a strategic advisor to the podcast and marketing teams on topics, guests, and potential media implications.
- Track competitor claims, misinformation, or hostile narratives and develop proactive and reactive PR strategies.
- Cultivate a network of science-backed allies and third-party advocates to validate our claims and purity standards.
- Oversee PR efforts for live and digital events, wellness summits, trade shows, product launches, and sponsored experiences.
- Coordinate pre-event press campaigns and post-event media coverage.
- Manage media training and prep for speakers, founders, and influencers representing the brand at events.
- Serve as on-site PR lead at high-impact events to ensure positive brand visibility and crisis readiness.
- Partner with the events and experiential marketing teams to ensure public perception aligns with brand values.
- Foster relationships with journalists, editors, wellness media, and watchdog reporters.
Qualifications:
- 10+ years of experience in PR, communications, or brand reputation management (wellness or CPG preferred)
- Deep understanding of supplements, health regulations, and consumer safety messaging
- Proven experience managing crisis communications and complex narratives
- Expertise across all major social media platforms and tools (Instagram, TikTok, YouTube, X, Threads, LinkedIn)
- Strong network in wellness journalism, podcasting, and influencer spheres
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills; strong copywriting background is a plus
- Experience managing people and cross-functional teams, collaborating with legal and marketing departments
