JOB DESCRIPTION:
THE OPPORTUNITY:
The Director, R&D Program Management is responsible for compliance with applicable Corporate and Divisional Policies and procedures. Responsible for managing people responsible for R&D programs and programs involving multiple cross-functional teams focused on advancing the R&D pipeline. Plans and directs schedules. Monitors multiple programs/projects from concept to completion. Organizes interdepartmental and cross-functional activities ensuring completion of the programs to timelines, and within budget constraints. Assigns and monitors work of program staff, providing technical support and direction. Drive the development of new technologies and processes.

WHAT YOU'LL WORK ON:
- Focuses effort, resources, and capabilities on R&D programs or franchises Determine project milestones and resources need to accomplish R&D program milestones which involves forecasting or coordinating skills/talent, capital equipment, materials, and other resources needed to accomplish program goals within the larger division strategy.
- Ensure alignment of the development program with business strategy.
- Communicate milestones, and critical paths for an entire family of products or business unit to teams, peers, and executive staff audiences.
- Facilitates decision making through project management tools and cross-functional input. .Monitors risks and develops contingencies along the program path.
- Acquire, develop, motivate, and retain Abbott talent.
- Monitors progress of departments or units toward divisional and company goals; monitors all costs associated with assigned organizational unit; monitors company-wide indicators such as market share and profitability; monitors industry trends and external environment in areas relevant to the assigned organizational unit.
- Will perform this job in a quality system environment.
- Failure to adequately perform tasks can result in noncompliance with governmental regulations.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelors Degree and a minimum of 12 years of related work experience
- Preferred 10+ years of leadership experience in a related industry or function. Program and/or project management experience in an R&D setting preferred.
