POSITION SUMMARY:
Under the Director of Clinical Services' direct supervision, the Director of Respiratory Care Services coordinates the delivery of Respiratory Care and ABG Laboratory Services with effective delivery of competent, compassionate, and efficient patient care based on evidence-based practices on a 24-hour basis. This includes but not limited to clinical, human resources, and financial management

JOB SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:
Ensures the respiratory department complies with all state, federal, and accrediting agencies' rules, regulations, and standards.
Performs duties in a manner to promote quality patient care and customer service/satisfaction.
Operationalizes and participates in continuous quality improvement and risk management programs at the departmental level in a collaborative manner with multidisciplinary colleagues.
Assesses the effectiveness and appropriateness of therapy, makes recommendations, or refers the problem to the Department of PI/QA/Risk Management.
Ensures the effective delivery of competent, compassionate, and efficient care by monitoring and evaluating patient care and outcomes.
Participates as necessary in patient care conferences and clinical rounds.
Coordinates staff scheduling and payroll functions in a timely manner.
Identifies areas of staff deficiencies and counsels appropriately, and timely in collaboration with Human Resources Director and Director of Clinical Services
Communicates effectively and professionally with staff, colleagues, physicians, and facility leadership.
Participates as necessary in patient team conferences
Communicates with physicians as needed regarding patient's respiratory needs and plan of care
Records clinical documentation according to accepted professional, regulatory guidelines.
Develops effective treatment plans based on existing, evidenced-based protocols.
Tracks/reports procedures appropriately to ensure accurate patient billing.
Updates and creates policies as needed.
Completes reports and documents according to facility policies.
Research and recommended new product and equipment to optimize patient care delivery and create new marketing niche for the organization.
Participates in discharge planning.
Orients and trains department staff nursing staff, and medical staff to achieve and maintain a high standard of care.
Communicates effectively with the Director of Clinical Services and other professional colleagues to ensure team focused, patient-centered care.
Develops measurable departmental goals and assist with strategic planning.
Presents self in a professional manner when representing the facility.
Complies with state regulations and national standards as they apply to Respiratory Care and ABG LAB Services' practice.
Exhibits the ability to resolve, areas of concern or conflict with patient's families, co-workers, or external customers in a professional, proactive, and courteous manner.
Reviews and promptly acts on reports and recommendations from regulatory and inspecting agencies.
Does not show favoritism towards staff members. Is always consistent in supervision of staff.
Demonstrates ability to provide ongoing training, role-modeling, and development of staff.
Conducts regularly scheduled staff meetings to facilitate good communication flow and problem identification.
Performs employee performance evaluations in a timely manner
Functions as a leader across department lines representing a "united front" to staff.
Attends meetings/seminars as required.
Performs other duties as assigned
POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:
EDUCATION:
Graduate from an accredited school of Respiratory Therapy.
EXPERIENCE:
Licensed Registered as Respiratory Therapist (RRT)
5 years of clinical experience with at least 2 years in a senior position.
Preferred minimum of two-years' experience as Director of Respiratory Care Services.
Prefer Critical Care with Adults and pediatric patients.
LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION:
Current Respiratory Care Practitioner license in the State of Practice.
Current Basic Life Support- American Heart Association Certification.
Current Advance Life-Support- American Heart Association Certification.
Pediatric Advanced Life Support-American Heart Association preferred.
Nexus-approved Behavioral Intervention Training
Must maintain current certification in good standing during employment with this facility.
