SCHEDULE: Full Time, Hybrid
TRAVEL REQUIRED: 0% - 25%

COMPENSATION: $80,485.00 to $154,755.00 base salary plus potential for variable compensation. Base pay is determined by your skills, qualifications, experience, and location. Farm Credit Mid-America/Rural 1st may compensate outside of the salary range for bona fide reasons not related to membership in a protected class.

About Our Opportunity

The Director Rural 1st Operations provides leadership and direction to the Rural 1st Operations team, specifically as it relates to cross-functional relationship building and supporting the lending process consistent with association goals and risk mitigation. The primary responsibilities include leading and coaching team members, monitoring and assessing workflow volumes, assigning work among team members and creating a world class customer experience.

This position requires existing NMLS registration under the SAFE Act, or the ability to obtain the same upon hire, and maintenance of a status in good standing during employment.

How You Will Spend Your Time

  • Applying team operating standards and monitoring adherence to essential procedures.
  • Leading and coaching others, setting team's direction and deploying resources, evaluating performance, reviewing pay and recommending employment decisions.
  • Achieving results by leading team members in a manner that instills trust and is consistent with association values.
  • Working to continually exceed customer expectations through process improvement, quality assurance and managing service levels.
  • Maintaining technical expertise, business and industry knowledge, and process development capabilities.
  • Being accountable for individual team(s) performance and cooperation with team's upstream and downstream.
  • Implementing processes and programs that promote an understanding of, and positively contribute to, the customer experience.
  • Conducting loan reviews and using findings to coach and develop operations team members.
  • Modeling organizational values, inspiring a shared vision and holding their teams accountable for culture preservation and growth.
  • Partnering with their leader on disciplinary or salary actions.
  • Applying acquired expertise to analyze and solve problems without clear precedent.
  • Building strong relationships with sales, credit and appraisal leaders and team members.
  • Coordinating and collaborating with cross-functional leaders to make recommendations and solve problems.
  • Providing technical guidance to employees, colleagues and/or customers.
  • Serving on standing Association committees/teams.


Minimum Education & Experience

Bachelor's Degree in finance, agriculture, business or related field is preferred. Plus four years experience in financial services environment focused on sales and/or customer support.

Mental & Physical Requirements

While engaged in this position, team members will routinely sit, use hands for tasks, and communicate orally. Standing or walking is frequently required, while occasional demands include reaching with hands and arms, and lifting or moving up to ten pounds. Vision requirements encompass close and distance vision. The work environment typically has a moderate noise level. This role may entail a blend of mental and physical capabilities, requiring strong mental acuity, problem-solving skills, and occasional physical tasks such as standing, lifting, or extended computer usage. Some roles may require physical or mental requirements related to driving, such as a valid driver's license, and the ability to drive a long-distance.
