Job Summary
The Director will lead efforts to foster innovation, cultivate an entrepreneurial spirit, and drive economic development within the academic community and beyond. The role is pivotal supporting aspiring entrepreneurs, facilitating startup ventures, and integrating entrepreneurship into the university's fabric.
Partnership Development, Engagement & Relationship Management:
- Actively cultivate, monitor, and advance an active pipeline of commercializable business ideas campus-wide.
- Evangelize and engage over one thousand students and staff.
- Build and maintain relationships with students, faculty/staff, leading companies, entrepreneurs, alumni and donors to enhance resources and opportunities for students.
- Engage students across disciplines to inspire entrepreneurial thinking, offer guidance, and facilitate connections with industry mentors and investors.
- Serve as an advocate for entrepreneurship within the university and externally, promoting the center's initiatives and successes.
- Develop and execute the strategic vision of the Simone Center, ensuring it aligns with RIT's mission.
- Oversee all aspects of the program's design, including development, staff recruitment, and program delivery.
- Oversee incubation programs, accelerators, co-working spaces, and other events to enhance student engagement, nurture startup ventures and facilitate their growth.
- Design and implement comprehensive programs to support entrepreneurial education, mentorship, and venture acceleration ensuring associated deliverables are met.
- Regularly review and update the portfolio to ensure it remains at the forefront of entrepreneurship and commercialization.
- Oversee the program's budget, ensuring resources are allocated effectively to support the center's activities.
- Advocate for the program's growth and development through external funding and internal resource optimization.
- Working in close partnership with University Advancement, secure financial support for the Center through alumni and donor engagement.
- Establish partnerships with alumni, deans, university leaders, industry leaders, investors, professional organizations and government entities to enhance resources available to aspiring entrepreneurs and to further the organization's strategic goals.
- Oversee the collection and analysis of data for all university entrepreneurship activities through database.
- Report findings internally and externally. Perform data analysis to drive strategic decision-making around program offerings and outcomes based on identified success metrics.
- Monitor progress of initiatives and institute corrective action as needed.
- Oversee the ongoing evaluation of the program's effectiveness, including regular assessments of student outcomes, faculty/staff performance, and the impact of the program on the community.
- Manage staffing within the center effectively.
- Provide leadership, support to staff, including oversight of efforts related to recruitment and selection, training and development, and performance management.

Required Qualifications

- Track record in business development/sales, influencing very large amounts of people from different backgrounds
- Required track record elite-level written and spoken communication skills
- Actual entrepreneurship experience as a founder/early employee or working directly with founder/co-founder entrepreneurs helping to fund and build businesses.
- Organizing / leading large events
- Proven ability to lead and inspire employees in teams, manage complex projects
