ABOUT THE ROLE:
The HSO Standards team collaborates with leading experts, policy makers, providers and people with lived experience to develop healthcare quality standards, assessment programs and quality improvement solutions that are applied across health and social services in Canada and globally.
We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Director of Standards, to join our team and help advance our vision of safer care and a healthier world. The Director role will contribute to HSO in leading a specialized team and technical committees in the development of people-centred, evidence-based health quality standards that serve as the basis for accreditation programs and robust public policies.
The Director of Standards will report to the Managing Director within the Products and Strategic Offerings portfolio. The ideal candidate holds an extensive background in large healthcare organizations, with experience in healthcare leadership, evidence synthesis, regulation and policy, and quality and safety. This is a highly collaborative role that works closely with the organization leadership team and with external partners. The role requires a strong understanding of current trends in healthcare, requirements of Standards Development Organizations, coupled with continuous quality improvement methodologies, equity-based principles, and patient safety science.

Main Responsibilities:
- Maintaining the Standards Roadmap.
- Leading the Standards Steering Committee.
- Leading a team of Senior Program Managers who coordinate teams of Program Managers, Technical Writers, Content Specialists, and Coordinators, who are co-producing high quality Standards with Technical Committees.
- Approve all content development as per Standards development processes for a Standards Development Organization to meet all third-party Accreditation requirements.
- Fostering collaboration with delivery, marketing, products, digital and communications teams to continuously improve operational efficiencies and the client experience.
Must Have Qualifications:
- Master's degree required, PhD preferred in a regulated health care profession or related field.
- 5-10 years of experience producing content such as standards, regulation, policy, clinical practice guidelines, systematic reviews or rapid reviews.
- 5-10 years of experience in progressive leadership roles.
- 5-10 years of experience in healthcare quality and safety roles.
- Exceptional writing, editing, and evidence synthesis skills.
- Excellent communication, consensus-building, and facilitation skills.
- Outstanding project management skills with the ability to adeptly prioritize to meet dynamic timelines.
Desired Qualifications:
- Strong clinical experience.
- An organizational Accreditation lead or Surveyor.
- Bilingual in Canadian official languages.
- Experienced in global health systems.
- A published scholar, preparing grants and abstracts while fulfilling speaking engagements.
- Open to occasional travel and able working in a hybrid work environment.
