The Director of Front-End Innovation and Engineering Organization will provide strategic leadership and direction to drive proactive engagement across the company's front-end development and engineering initiatives. This role will oversee the Pre NPI-Sourcing and management of the forward-looking cost cure at the beginning of the product development process, ensuring total cost goals are met within conjunction of supplier strategies and industry innovation. The Director will collaborate with key stakeholders, including engineering, system management, product management, design, and suppliers, to foster a culture of innovation and excellence.
In addition to driving pre NPI sourcing, the Director will work upstream in the product lifecycle to make sourcing decisions and product cost trade-offs with proposed technology and experience attributes within the product cost structure. The leader will oversee a team focused on system cost and should cost modeling, city planning increasing component leverage, and optimizing supplier partnerships. The outcome will be to balance total cost-saving measures with quality standards to maintain profitability and brand competitiveness in a rapidly evolving and commoditizing market.

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several U.S. geographic markets, and we pay differently based on those defined markets. The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is $170,000 - $250,000 annually with additional opportunities for pay in the form of bonus and/or equity. Pay within this range varies by work location and may also depend on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The Responsibilities
- Strategic Leadership: Provide direct and ongoing strategic leadership for a team of multiple subordinate managers and high-level individual contributors driving front-end innovation and development.
- Program Management: Set overall program initiatives, manage and allocate financial and human capital for programs and projects, ensure timely and effective delivery of innovation programs, and bring clear communication and recommendations to senior executives.
- Stakeholder Collaboration: Actively partner with and influence internal and external stakeholders, including engineering, system management, product management, design, and suppliers, to drive innovation and achieve business objectives.
- Innovation Strategy: Develop and implement strategies for front-end innovation, leveraging industry and subject matter expertise to enhance the company's digital presence and customer engagement.
- Product Lifecycle Management: Work upstream in the product lifecycle to make product cost trade-offs with proposed technology and experience attributes within the product cost structure.
- Cross-Platforms Task Force: Initiate a cross-platforms task force to identify commonalities and leverage points for component optimization.
- Technical and Business Justification: Formulate a technical and business justification for implementing converged and optimized commodity solutions across all business units.
- Supplier Relationships: Establish and maintain strong relationships with suppliers to ensure the successful delivery of innovative solutions.
- Industry Standards Advocacy: Advocate for key industry standards (e.g., JEDEC) tailored to the needs of the PC ecosystem and partner with suppliers to drive innovation through standards.
- Cost Management: Balance cost-saving measures with quality standards to maintain profitability and brand competitiveness in a rapidly evolving and commoditizing market.
- Risk Management: Mitigate risk and exposures through audit and control processes, thoughtful analyses, and consideration of impacts and planning.
- Team Oversight & Development: Oversee a team focused on system cost and should-cost modeling, reducing portfolio complexity, increasing component leverage, and optimizing supplier partnerships.
Education & Experience Recommended
- Four-year or Graduate Degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Business Administration, or any other related discipline or commensurate work experience or demonstrated competence.
- Typically has 12+ years of job-related and/or management experience, preferably in front-end development, innovation, or a related field.
Preferred Certifications
- Relevant industry certifications in innovation management, project management, or related fields are a plus.
