Role Summary:
The Director of Strategic Projects will play a leading role on the end-to-end development of strategic initiatives for the club, which may include highly cross-functional projects, evaluation of new growth opportunities, mid- and long-term planning, league initiatives, Board/ownership presentations and more. The development of these projects will typically involve ideation, structuring of the work, research and analysis of data and information, formulation of alternatives and recommendations, and preparation of documentation to communicate these clearly and effectively. While reporting to the Club's VP Finance, the role will have significant exposure to the Club's President & General Manager and will require regular interaction with other key senior people, both internally and externally, for both input and decision-making.

Key Responsibilities:
- Cross-Functional Project Management: Lead projects with strong cross-functional components (eg, Apple, NextPro, World Cup), ensuring the definition of clear and aligned strategies, ongoing communication and coordination, and positive progress towards goals/KPIs.
- New Business Opportunities: Evaluate new business opportunities, from large multi-million dollar bets to more tactical new initiatives or product launches; research market, competitors, data; identify benchmarks and best practices; evaluate alternative strategies and approaches; create business cases to model financial impact; make recommendations; work with executive leadership to accelerate strategic roadmaps / initiatives.
- Mid-/Long-Term Planning: Lead effort to define and track Club's mid/long-term plan. Create strategic framework, incorporate club vision/mission, analyze market and competitors, identify strengths/weaknesses, define unique differentiators, create action plans, track KPIs. Work closely with Finance and other department heads to create financial assumptions, model, scenarios.
- League Initiatives: Interact regularly with Major League Soccer executives on league-wide initiatives (eg, NextGen Fan Engagement, Leagues Cup). Participate in MLS-led multi-club working groups or coordination calls, including potentially Chief Business Officer monthly reviews. Understand projects, define club position, drive to results.
- Strategic Support: Act as internal strategic advisor to different department heads, including in Sporting, to help formalize departmental strategic plans, analyze data rigorously, provide support in decision-making, improve processes and more.
- Market Analysis: Keep a regular pulse on market, regulatory and competitive behaviors or trends; review reports and summarize key findings and takeaways/action items.
- Documentation: Produce high quality PowerPoint and Excel documents to capture key analyses, findings, business plans, strategic recommendations, action plans and more.
- Stakeholder Management: Support President & General Manager on preparation of materials for Executive Committee, TKFC Board of Directors, and Taylor Kindle Family Office meetings.
- Stakeholder Engagement: Interact with both internal and external stakeholders as needed, including but not limited to Club's President & General Manager, Club's Leadership Team members, Club's Executive Committee, Club's Board of Directors, Major League Soccer executives, other Clubs' senior management, Club sponsors and more.
Qualifications:
- Undergraduate degree at a highly respected university, with proven academic excellence; Masters in Business Administration degree at a highly respected university preferred but optional
- 3-5 years experience at a highly respected management consulting firm, with track record of promotions; experience in investment banking or in strategy department of large company also relevant; prior experience in sports not required
- Strong strategic / critical thinking, problem solving skills, and analytical capabilities; highly structured
- Comfortable working autonomously under minimal direction; takes initiative, self-starter, resourceful, persistent, solutions-oriented; able to break down complex problems into digestible pieces
- High standard of excellence; comfortable working under pressure, with short deadlines
- Strong people skills, emotional intelligence and self awareness; able to build rapport and trust, work collaboratively as part of a team, listen carefully; comfortable dealing with senior executives, even club owners, with 'client service' mentality
- Strong communication skills; able to communicate clearly, with structure, succinctly, both verbally and in written form (in emails and PowerPoint); multiple languages preferred
- Advanced PowerPoint and Excel user; Tableau experience nice-to-have
- Uncompromising integrity, confidentiality, professionalism
