Overview

Leads the strategic and tactical day-to-day activities of the strategic sourcing function. Implements sourcing strategies, manages supplier relationships, and negotiates contracts to ensure the company obtains necessary materials at competitive prices.

Responsibilities

  • Leads high performing strategic sourcing team. Performs full range of managerial responsibilities which may include but not be limited to: interviewing, hiring, coaching, and developing employees; planning, assigning, and directing work performance management; department budget.
  • Creates comprehensive sourcing strategies that support the company's goals, enhance supply chain efficiency, and reduce costs.
  • Identifies, evaluates, and manages relationships with key suppliers to ensure they meet quality, cost, and delivery expectations.
  • Leads negotiations with suppliers to secure the best terms and conditions, including pricing, delivery, and service agreements.
  • Analyzes potential risks within the supply chain and develops strategies to mitigate these risks.
  • Collaborates effectively with various departments, such as operations, finance, and product development, to understand their sourcing needs and align sourcing strategies accordingly.
  • Develops and monitors key performance indicators (KPIs) to assess the effectiveness of sourcing strategies and supplier performance.
  • Identifies opportunities for cost savings through strategic sourcing initiatives, process improvements, and supplier negotiations.
  • Drives continuous improvement efforts.
  • Completes other projects as assigned.


  • Qualifications

    Job Skills Requirements
    • Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills.
    • Ability to lead a high performing purchasing team.
    • Sound knowledge of sourcing and supply chain concepts and practices.
    • Excellent communication with internal and external stakeholders.

    Educational Requirements
    • Bachelor's degree in supply chain management, business, engineering, or related field, or equivalent experience.

    Experience Requirements
    • Ten years of experience in strategic sourcing or related field. Equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
    • Demonstrated success leading teams.
    • Prior experience in the manufacturing industry preferred.
