Be the driving force behind the business success of one of the PWHL markets. The Professional Women's Hockey League (PWHL) is seeking a seasoned, passionate professional to lead us into our next chapter of growth and serve as the Director, Team Business Operations for PWHL Vancouver. The Director, Team Business Operations oversees all business-related functions for the team. This role involves strategic planning, financial management, marketing, and operational execution to maximize revenue, enhance fan experience, and support team success. This role requires an experienced leader who owns how the entire PWHL experience in Vancouver comes to life. In addition to owning the team revenue generation, this role drives the execution of supporting initiatives such as marketing, public relations, content, fan engagement, community relations and other commercial strategies with a local market lens. Collaborating with the functional teams at PWHL that includes marketing, partnerships, public relations and ticketing will be necessary to bring the best possible experience to life for fans in Vancouver.
The Director, Team Business Operations will manage a team of 5-10 full and /or part-time individuals, reporting to and working with the PWHL VP of Ticketing and Team Business Operations to manage how the commercial and marketing strategies are executed in the local market. This will require attention and close tracking of their team's revenue generation alongside a hungry, ambitious mindset for developing audience and commercial growth.
Along with everyone in the PWHL, there will be a focus on serving the players and the audience; a proven ability to deliver great experiences and grow an audience is paramount. This role requires a dedicated individual who lives and breathes their market and has a drive not only to win on the ice, but also to win off the ice with audience and commercial success.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:
Compensation Range: $150K - $180K CAD

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Work in conjunction with the League to manage and execute the business operations of PWHL Vancouver
- Develop and implement business strategies to achieve revenue targets and growth objectives.
- Oversee budgeting, financial planning, and reporting to ensure fiscal responsibility
- Manage game-day operations, ensuring a seamless and engaging fan experience
- Lead and mentor a diverse team, fostering a culture of collaboration and excellence
- Establish and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including sponsors, partners, and the community
- Ensure compliance with league regulations and industry standards
- Leverage their deep understanding of local market 'on the ground' to propose new initiatives and work with the league to fund and execute those strategies
- Serve as a strong communicator within and outside of the organization
- Serve as an ambassador on behalf of the organization in the hockey community and local Vancouver community - this person is an important conduit and leader for culture setting and evangelizing the league's vision, mission and values
- Other duties as assigned
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Sports Management, or a related field (Master's preferred)
- Minimum of 10 years' experience working at a leadership level in the sports industry or related field
- Proven experience in business operations
- Strong leadership and team management skills
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and analytical abilities
- Ability to be on-site at all home games and events, frequent attendance at practices and other activities in the market as well as occasional travel to away games with PWHL Vancouver (via bus and air) as needed, is required
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
